reputable place to purchase a truck

I live in western Pa and would like to know who the reputable truck dealers are. I know about Fyda, but I am sure there are more truck dealers around. I want to start out with a lower mileage pre-owned class 8 truck. Also, are there any companies that offer any type of loan assumption from other owners who are getting out of the business or in the process of possibly having a truck reposessed.

Bulldog will not tell you a price when you call them up. What they will do is ask you to fill out a credit app, tho. But they won't tell you how much you're credit you're filling it out for. Once you're approved, I'm sure they'll tell you how much they're after.

Here is a place with a nice selection of repo's and from what I hear easy financing, just might be a bit high on interest rate.

I highly suggest avoiding Bulldog. They won't tell you the price until you are finally approved, and then you find out the trucks price is marked up a ton. Then you wish you didn't waste your time in the first place. Just saying.......

Jeff Jones, Stoops Freightliner Ft Wayne IN.

Jeff is as honest and up front salesman as I have ever known. Stoops has multiple dealerships so he has access to more trucks than just what is on his lot.

I had the pleasure of spending half a day with Jeff recently. I never got the impression that he was slick or pushy, I did get the impression that he has a real depth of knowledge about real world trucking and trucks themselves. He's busy for a reason, be patient in waiting for a response from him.

Jeff has been in and around the buisness for YEARS. He has a vast background and knowledge base to draw on. Your impression of him is right on the mark, he is neither slick nor pushy. It has been my experience that he wants nothing more than for your needs to be met, not just at the time of purchase but long after the ink is dry and the miles are building on your investment.

There are none.

You can listen to everyone here but the problem is that what works for one, doesn't work for others. I had a problem with one mentioned in this thread, won't say who because I will be jumped on but it wasn't a nice or good experience.

Here is the thing, you have to do due diligence on every purchase you make. A lot of repo trucks are beaten into the ground because of stupidity or ignorance and even is a reputable dealer says "sure it's great", it may not be so great.

I would start with the normal process that works, getting the info on the truck, doing a Dyno test, an OA and other things to start seeking out a good truck.

I would also ask specific questions about their offerings, get it all on paper so there is no misunderstandings.

BULLDOG TRUCK & EQUIPMENT SALES

Sent from my DROID X2

I called Bulldog about a truck for one of my van owner operators who was wanting to swap up. I learned a lot from that call.

1. True, the do not want to tell you what the price is on a truck.
2. They don't like people paying cash, probably because they make commission on the interest from the bank.
3. If you do want to pay cash, you will pay a ridiculous amount, even more than some of those overpriced wonders on Ellenbaum's site.
4. They thrive on the people with the bad credit.

Bull dog is a scam and here is the scoop they finance their own equipment they sell, and they do not have the trucks in 1 location they are scattered all over the ATL area and it is by appointment only.

But if your credit is bad and you have $500 down and want a $1500 or more per month payment your set to go they have a truck for you.

I did purchase cash from them a stepdeck I got a all aluminum 2006 for $15k that wasn't a bad deal. They have many repo trailers also. I purchased a repo flatbed 3 weeks ago in chicago from a bank for $2500 its a 94 double eagle alum combo in good shape and good rubber and all new brakes. it was a jackpot deal.

Even a combo has got to have at least $2500 worth of aluminum at scrap value, plus good rubber and all new brakes, you are definitely the man! I can no longer think of you as idiotrans. From now on you are THE MAN! Better yet, THE MAIN MAN. Stop the presses, THE MAINLY MAIN MAN. Amen, Mainly Main Man.

I talked about issues and people before but some issues are ignored while others I am told don't happen. So names and problems are discussed somewhere else.

Coming from the finance world, I knew what I was getting into with Bulldog, and why. They are not strictly "tote the note". Our truck, bought from them, was financed by a bank in Tennessee.

They are not for everyone, for sure, and definitely not for the un-savvy. They served a purpose for us. We knew going in that if something was presented that we couldn't or wouldn't swallow, we could easily walk away. We weren't desperate buyers.
