I sometimes just HATE getting my truck worked on!! I had what I though was going to be quick repair on my transmission last week. It was not finding gears and "hunting" for them, shifting up an down VERY quickly an not engaging. I have a EatonFuller AutoShift. WELL, they replaced the wiring harness and the XY shifter, road tested and it worked fine. I took a load, drove a TOTAL of 166 miles from the first repair shop and the same thing started up AGAIN. I was forced to transfer the load to another truck and go back into the shop. This time they told me it was the computer on the transmission. It was a warrenty issue, as was the first repair, BUT, they did not have the part. I had to wait a day and got it back today. SO far it is working. I have a load tomorrow. Let's hope it keeps working. I really cannot afford to keep losing entire weeks of work. Layoutshooter

I like to call them "Code Monkeys" They seem to only be able to fix the code(s) that show on the "Magic" code readers. In this case part of the problem was EatonFuller. They told the first shop to ONLY replace the harness and XY shifter. The first shop did not know or did not tell them that they thought the computer was bad. The second shop said that they ALWAYS replace the computer when this problem accures. Either way, I missed the better part of ANOTHER week do to truck "STUFF" Just what I need on the heels of last years loss of 3 months. Like I told Bob Caffee when I seen him last week. I am starting to feel like a "Country/Western" song!!! Layoutshooter

Shooter don't feel like the Lone Ranger. The alternator on our reefer was replaced 2/11/09. We got loaded 3/10/09 with a reefer load, we were sending in our depart messages when the reefer quit. We got unloaded again. Headed to Thermo King.
This time it was corroded wiring... to the alternator.
I'm thinking some hamsters and a wheel would probably work just as well :p

Smile....SPRING is almost here!!

It is very very frustrating when over and over again you have to go to a shop!
All I can is living with Bob and things do not get fixed right is very stressful! There are many things he cannot fix due to having to clear codes on the truck or reading the codes.

If you just mention having to go to a shop in our truck and the hair on the back of my neck starts going up. I absolutely hate sitting in the driver’s lounge watching stupid shows on TV turned up to loud and waiting for someone to come get us.

I really feel for you Mr. and Mrs. Layoutshooter and I hope this time they have it right!

U r having the kind of week I had last week. I replaced my alternator with a rebuilt and headed out with a load. Got unloaded and pulled out to a safe area and called in. Truck was running while I was sitting there. All of a sudden, a funny sound and smoke coming from under hood. Before I could cut it off, boom. Fan belt burnt into and flew off. Alternator and idler pulley locked up. ???? Don't know which caused the other to lock, but there I was. So sometimes, no matter what you do to try and prevent a break down, it still happens. It just makes it worse when it is somethinjmg you just had fixed. (or fixed yourself) Just thankful belt didin't get in fan and radiator. Ya know?

I know what you mean. Like my former owner and good friend used to say all the time: "Some days you are the bug and somedays you are the windshield" I wonder what it would be like to be the windshield for 3 entire months straight? I know that is asking for a lot, but it would be nice. Layoutshooter
