Sir,

Yes... very true (as do many other Bible Verses)

Thus my statement...
Wise Men (and Women) Still Seek HIM.
(as in prayer, the Bible..)

The rest of the post was just my opinion which may be
different from others.
You're welcome to yours and welcome to respond to mine...

Discussion, sir... discussion.

I was "judging" no one.

Just presenting my opinion based upon the previous
opinions being posted...

Just commenting on taxpayer funds being used for
the support of "religions" and my desire to see it
stop before it's too late for the USA.

Please note that I have not "flamed" anyone nor told them
their opinion is not welcome here on the "Soapbox".

States have been funding events for along time State Fairs, county fairs come to mind...a measly 1 million invested will surly earn the businesses of NY much more in revenue collectively...tourism will increase a tax revenue will increase....

I don't see the problem of 1 mil going toward boosting tourism, if the government will get that money back in taxes. What I don't like is 6 mil going to researching pig farts.

OVM,
they ain't talking about a $1M 'investment', they are talking about somewhere on the lines of $6M to 12M of the feds to cover everything from what I read.

As for the word Investment there is no investment with government funded anything because an investment requires a tangible return to all. In most cases there is no return to all, but a select few.

I also don't buy into the event cascade effect that everyone thinks that happens when there is money put into events, like the super bowl. Michigan spent a lot of money, cut funding for a lot of things in order to pay for the stupid bowl a few years back and there was such a big deal made about the money that the city of Detroit would see, and it never happened. In fact a lot of businesses went under along Michigan Avenue and through out the city because the state stopped rebuilding the roads where these businesses were located and left them without parking or in some cases access all because they needed to fix other things. During the event, many were told and thought that a lot of inner city restaurants and venues would see an increase in business but it never happened. The people who got the money were the people around the stadium, the vendors in the stadium but the truth is the city was no better off after then before and we are stuck with a football shaped bridge on 94 that should be removed. The city that actually made out was Pittsburgh, they saw an increase in businesses come into the city right after they won. So dumping money into an event by the government is not a good thing.

Greg....this below was the specific issue we were discussing"

Well, listen to what the honorable Senator from New York Hillary Clinton has "Earmarked" this year. Sentor Clinton has $1 Million of our taxpayer dollars for a celebration of Woodstock??!!

Thats where the 1 million figure came from...

Now greg you of all people aren't that narrow focused....you know business relationships take time to build. Te fact there hasn't been instant gratification doesn't prove anything. And yes people in Detroit made money as you said vendors, restaurants, hotels and all them good taxable items, Superbowl goodies all taxable, taxi rides...parking garages..all taxable. ##### Michigan is one of the few states that even taxes my ice for the cooler!!!!
On the other hand the government also just can't dump oodles of cash and not control it.

PS.. If I were to open a business....It prolly wouldn't be Michigan!! Unless they gave aay the farm...
