I have a feeling you'll be back, you don't sound confident in this retirement.

26 years an Expediter is amazing. The changes in the industry since you started are pretty much mind boggling to me. Hard to imagine standing in the weather calling on a pay phone to get directions, to see if there is a load, to let them know you are going to be delayed. Amazing.

Enjoy your retirement and you will be missed.

You are so right. As I have documented in a earlier thread, rates have not increased over the last 20+ years. If rates had increased as the CPI Index says they should. I would be continuing.

How have things done for C's and D's in your opinion ?
Has the increased productivity, operating efficiencies helped offset the rate issues ?
The CV market, although important to expediting, is it's own little world, IMHO.

Are there any guys on here that started earlier than you ?
When do you remember woman getting involved ?
What's your funniest memory and or favorite moment ?
Weirdest load ?
Heck you're retired, plenty of time to think up answers.

I am going to need a lot of time to think of answers to your questions. Stay tuned.
For openers. About Women. I recall running into a team of women in a C. Year must have been 1989. Also encountered Dispatcher Virginia who went on to become president of FDCC.

This day I am announcing my retirement. Thanks to all my friends on EO, this forum has provided a connection amongst peers unimagined when I began with Roberts Express in Oct 1988.
I must say I would not be taking this action if revenue was what it should be today. I am not blaming FDCC or anyone else for this. We are victims of our own success. Word spread quickly in the ninety's that there was money in expediting. Result was every Tom, Dick, and Harry with a phone line thought he was an expediting company. People were recruited with no idea of the true cost of running a vehicle.
I am hopeful this will reverse in the future, however I have been saying this for the last 10 to fifteen years. As long as the recruiters still find enough body's to fill those seats, change will not happen.
Happy Trails! Adios Amigos...
Redytrk AKA Don Riley

Congratulations!
I retired in July 2013 and still not used to it,but I'm beginning to adjust. I started Roberts in 1993,so you have more time than me,but you will adjust too. It's not the end but a new beginning. Good Luck Redytrk! Hey that rhymes!

They don't make Expediters like Redy any more. R.I.P.

(RETIRE IN PEACE) LOL!!

Seriously, it takes a tough, determined business man to stick it out all these years with all the changes we've had in this industry. One man - one company, that's a great and honorable legacy.

Also, thanks for making EO your digital home all these years.

Take care and please feel to come back anytime. The door is always open.
