Red Wine Vinegar and Vodka Sauce

A while back I had this reeeally exquisite dish at a Casino restaurant the wife and I frequent. It consisted of angel hair pasta, portabello mushrooms, and vodka sauce. I knew I must have this dish again sometime soon. So, while recently purchasing food supplies for the truck's pantry I came across bottled Bertolli Vodka Sauce in the pasta section. Fantastic! Got me a bottle and put it in the cart next to the red wine vinegar ( vinegar used for salad dressing). I was real excited thinking about the romantic candle light dinner I had planned for Sunday evening. Fresh bread, salad, and pasta dinner complete with soooothing mood music and great dessert afterwards would be served.

Then it hit me, square between the eyes! Can I even carry these "food" items in our pantry on-board our truck? Yep, right there on the label ingredient said "made with Vodka", and "made with red wine". Woah, That's alcohol in its tastiest form. Was my dream of a really romatic dinner coming to an end? What if my pantry gets raided by law enforcement. Could this be the end of life as I know it! Needless to say there were definate second thoughts going on here.

So, is it illegal to carry such food items in a truck's pantry?

No different from carrying Listerine Mouth Wash or Vicks Cold Medicines,, I would do it ,the amount of alcohol mixed up in those sauces probably wouldn't make you .00001

According to some, it is illegal to enjoy life on the road with or without alchohol. What in the world are you thinking, talking about food and romance like that? People might get the wrongheaded idea that expediting can be fun.

Wow for the first time I am in complete agreement with the A Team. Could it be the Cabernet Sauvignon that I am enjoying right now with my lady.

Both are legal, both are cooked and processed so should have very little alcohol left in it.

Now what about a bourbon BBQ sauce that is not cooked down, or cooking whiskey?

So are you saying, as long as it's cooked I'm ok but if its not, I'm cooked when law enforcement checks out my pantry? LOL

I would get a couple of empty jars and pour it in them. Then if there is any question it is home made pasta sauce and home made salad dressing. They won't know the difference.

no nyquil, mouthwash,or anything that contains any alcohol in a truck, put in jar as ark said,so they dont see it,dont think id eat and go thru blood alcohol test, any amount in a truck is off limits i believe

And about that romance thing ... you're a trucker. A clean T-shirt, two Heater Meals, and you're good!

I think your worrying a whole lot about nothing. As long as you don't blow an .02 in michigan and a .04 anywhere else your good to go. Also leave everything in the container it came in. You would probably have a harder time explaining what that green liquid is in that unmarked jar LOL.
