I'd like to have a pair of em hanging off my ICC, but, guess i'll spend the fifty bucks on a whole fifteen gallons of fuel instead.

Isn't that a sad state of affairs? Get me a whole hunderd sixty miles down the road, stead of showing chrome.

I for one do not just consider us "Truck Drivers" but more of a business owner with pride in what we do and how we do it.

I like the trucks with chrome, lights, and big stacks. Shows they have pride in what they drive. Plus if they do it right, it's neat to look at them. Just don't care for the balls or the lady things. They look kinda trashy.

Good stir the pot post BroomPilot. we're always driving too fast to notice a pair of insignificant blobs of something shiny hanging 2" from the pavement.

WOW we have lawyers, psychologist, politicians probably even an doctor or two in the expediting industry.I'm impressed.Thing is those professions don't belong out here so all you yuppies start acting like truck drivers or go back to your offices, and drink your latte. And I don't mean Act macho, have balls hanging from your trucks whizzing Calvins on your windows,or sitting ladies on your mud flaps,I mean act like professional truck drivers not lawyers, psychologist,or any other bull it has no use out here in the real world.

and as far as train horns go in 16 years I have never heard anyone that
has train horns, blow it unless they were asked I have never heard people
blowing air horns in a truck stop parking lot just for the pleasure of
blowing,unless there was a reason.

Poison,

I understand where you are coming from but this may be painful for you to accept, when you look around you don't see professional drivers out there you see people who for the most part look the job of a stereotypical trucker. I have yet heard anyone define a professional trucker.

I mean what do you really think the ratio of company drivers to Owner/Operators out there?

I would say there maybe at least 2 to 1 ratio and these companies are scrapping the bottom of humanity to keep the truck moving, with some of the most horrible people sitting in a truck.

I think that most Owners are proud of their truck and profession but this is not the majority, rather the minority.

I think the industry needs to welcome people from other professions, like the team who has done everything that can be done (except being elected president) in 20 or so years in their life and now drives a super truck as a super team who never stops, they bring civility and a better professional image to the industry oppose to the 450lb slob who smells like he pooped in his pants while standing in line at the buffet all the while wearing a shirt that looks like the one I used to clean the grease fittings with. Which one would you want to serve as the representative of our profession?

I agree whole heartedly but taking a look at 2days drivers compared to
when I first started(1991).it didn't use to be like that or shall I say not as bad.Sure there are quite a few bad apples out there, but for the most part or a least the ones I associate with are pretty good people,of
course that might be because the ones I associate with have been out here a lot longer then even I have.my problem with this thread was drivers looking down on other drivers and saying they have a low self esteem and comments like that because of what one has on there truck.I don't have any chrome or any other stuff mentioned on this thread but
I don't consider ones that do having a small penis or a low self esteem.
y'all have a good day I've got to go polish my chrome nuts and make sure my whizzing Calvin sticker is on straight, and my sitting lady's aren't falling off my mud flaps, and make sure my teeth in my grill are straight, and go put on some 9' pipes, and blow my train horns in the parking lot.Happy expediting....I mean Rving have a great vacation.

Everyone has egos and powertrips and all that stuff. Why do we do what we do. Why do we want to live in big houses, drive nice cars, why do some of us want to do stuff to our cars or truck. Why do we want a nice truck with a big sleeper or the big engine. Everyone here has an ego. If you dont then your ego is really big. Some people express things differently. Take the so called people who mod their cars called "ricers". If you like the way your truck looks then good for you. Pride yourself in what you do. Yes i have an ego. What i kinda see is if you dont go with the "norm" your an outcast. I listen to heavy metal, death metal music of the such, i dress in all black with the pants with straps and chains and such, i dont belive in any religion. I get looks all the time, people tend to stray away from me when i do that. Why because thats what I LIKE TO DO or DRESS LIKE, or ACT. If any of you were to meet me you would never tell that about me in "normal" clothes, you would guess i'm a good person and all that helps people, opens up doors and all that stuff, but if i'm wearing my "outfit" i'm an outcast and evil person and all that jazz. All because i'm not normal?

I know that was not on topic with truck nuts, or calvin wizzing or the chorme girls but its very darn close.

Alot of people do have egos here bashing one company or saying what their truck has or how much money they make. There is not perfesional nor courtious (spelling?) drivers anymore. Every panther drive i see be it T/T S/T C/V i wave to them or say hi in the CB. You know how many people wave back or anything. Hardly any. And that to me is sad that fellow drivers cant even wave to anyone. There is plenty of times i've made eye contact with people at truck stops in panther trucks and waved and they look at me like i'm some crazy person. Reminds me of that boating commercial.

Good!

I don't believe in any religion either!

Gee, we must be twins.

Back in the day, I wore a black T-shirt, faded jeans, engineer boots, ear ring, chain belt and chain drive wallet.

And check this out!

Folks stared at me like I was some kind of biker. Well, imagine that...

I wonder why? Maybe because I looked like an gang member. Of course, little did they know that I was not a "joiner"; I never seemed to fit into worldly organizations.

Guess why police officers wear uniforms? So you will be able to identify them.

Back then, I dressed that way so I would not be in the "norm." Ya know, I wanted to be different. Uh, do my own thing. When I parked my bike in front of the bar it was like deja vu. Everybody was dressed just like me. All of us trying to be different, but in reality...all the same.

The Bible says, "NO NEW THING UNDER THE SUN."

What was, what is and what will be...is all the same.

Yes, at one time I was very rebellious and unfortunately, I passed that characteristic along to my boys. And unfortunately, they had to learn the hard way, just like dad.

My oldest son couldn't understand why I did want kids smoking pot in my house when I was at work. (I reared the two oldest boys for about 10 years by myself) He got mad, packed his bag and left the house. I said, "Where are you going?" His reply was, "I am joining the Marine Corp because I don't like your rules."

Twenty years later we both laugh about that statement.

He just wanted to be different too; as they marched along in their uniforms. Hup, two, three, four.

Understandable, but did you looking like a "biker" mean you had a no selfesteem and tools? NOPE! Did you like the way you look. Well ya had to cause you put on what you put on. No different then a trucker having his truck a certain way. Maybe some do it to be funny. Maybe some do it cause they look cool. Yes they all look the same but they are all different. I just pointed out the way i look and my ways doesnt show how i am. Now some people it does cause they want that reputation which goes along the same thing maybe they do have small junk so be it.

The point is they like their truck, they like what they do to it. You like yourself you like what you do to yourself. If you didnt you wouldnt do it. Just because a few people dont like it doesnt mean you dont have to do it. ##### alot of people dont like trucking.. I should quit. Alot of people dont like americans, i should live on the moon. Unless there is a law that state. DO NOT DO THIS OR ELSE. People will do what they want. They will let their ego's flow. They will show off. They will be better then the jones or the smiths. ITS WHAT PEOPLE DO.

Here is a question. Why did you buy the type of vehicle you bought to expedite in. Cause its better then other people that make your van/truck. So that makes you better then anyone with that van or truck. THUS YOUR EGO IS BIGGER.

THE WHOLE POINT IS. WHY DOES THE WAY YOU LOOK MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE PERSON?

Tomorrow me going to get 2 bowling balls and glue them together and hang them from the straight truck i have. THAT WAY I WILL HAVE THE BIGGEST BALLS!!!! :+

Of course it doesn't mean that you in particualr have any issues with low self-esteem. Actually, I have little confidence in those who place "high esteem" on a pedestal. Like those who will tell you not to say "no" to their misbehaving child, because it might damage their self-esteem.

By the tenents of my beliefs, I am to esteem others better than myself. Php 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

My point is, if you chose to place a target on your back...expect to take some hits.

I have jacket with Scripture embroidered on the back. Some folks will come up to me and tell me what a blessing it is to see someone taking a stand. Others will sneer and mumble slurs under their breath; behind my back of course...never to my face.

I'll defend your right to put anything on your truck, but I will also defend another's right to tell you how they feel about it.

I kind of like chrome, being biker guy, but I am too busy to really care for it properly.

I am really considering putting some neon (thought you might like that) lights under the van. Really! Not to look cool, but to increase my visibilty to others when driving at night.

You know, I never quite got the connection between telling a child his behavior is unacceptable (in school or otherwise) and "damaging" his self esteem - how can he esteem himself, if he isn't meeting accepted standards, whether academic or behavioral?
Those who mutter imprecations behind your back at the scripture on your jacket have a definite self esteem problem, because they clearly don't have enough confidence in their own beliefs to discuss them in an open manner,or to allow others to believe differently - none of us has THE answer, after all.
Neon, to improve your visibility to others? Well, that's one argument my teenager hasn't thought of yet, in her campaign to customize her ride, lol.

I like to modify my ride. Mostly in the motor department but some visual aswell. Cars and Music thats what my life revolves around. :+

I kinda agree with you dhall to a point. I dont like what some people do as far as what they do to their rides. No matter how much i dont like it i wont say anything to them about it but i will defend them to a point as in its what everyones taste. Thats goes with just about anything. I pretty much go by if you dont try to force anything on me or it doesnt involve/concern me i dont take note to it.

And as far as the kids now adays dont get me started. Being 22 i've went to school with alot of kids that didnt get punished. The funny thing is it seems most of them are into drugs and drinking and still alot of my fellow highschool grads dont even have jobs yet. And alot goto college but dont make it because of the partying. But all that stuff is a whole new topic.

I dont know any religous quotes but i'm going to make one up

I must have a low self esteem because if I had the money I would have a long and tall pete with a texas bumper, drop visor, and tons of chicken lights. Not to mention the POW/MIA mudflaps on the back. My cb handle(batman) under the driver's side window. My wife's name (Robyn) under the passenger side window. All kinds of chrome gauge and switch covers on the dash. I was a third generation trucker. Some people grow up seeing their dads, grandpaws, and uncles drive shiny trucks and always wanted one to. Not everyone got to grow up with a dad that was home every night and go to college and do the rich boy thing. Plus most expediters have their noses so high up in the air if they were to go outside in the rain I think they would drown. You wave they look at you like your crazy. You try to conversate and be friendly and they act like what is this white trash doing talking to me. I stay clean and shaven, but they are like omg he has to work for a living. Just remember life my be nice up there on yalls pedastool but one day you may get knocked off and have to walk around down here with the normal folks and it's gonna suck. General trucking o/os were around long before the stuck up expediter business person my sh!t don't stink was, and guess what the general trucking o/os will most likely still be there when expediters run back to their offices with their tails between their legs because life on the road got to hard. I'm sure this will get taken down. Oh well. Someone will realize it's the truth and cry, maybe threaten to sue since that seems to be the popular trend these days. Just remember 90% of you are out on the road because you want to be, and not because you have to be. 90% of the drivers you look down on have to be out on the road because they don't have the education or trust fund you were blessed with. Maybe they see a good looking truck as a sign of success. Just like some expediters see having a 150" sleeper as a sign of success.

This post is part of the "educational and entertainment" value, of this website, that I mentioned in the other post.

Nice quote Neon.

Actually, you were quite on target.

Nobody wants to be judged and I put myself in that category too!

But alas, there has to be a payday someday.

To block any thoughts of judgment folks will run to Matthew 7:1 and read you the first two words of the text; "Judge not..." Then they will flippantly tell you, "See, the Bible says not to judge."

Nice try, but a text, without a context, is a pretext. They stop with the first two words of the verse just to get the monkey off their back.

Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Matthew 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

We make judgments everyday. We drive on the right side of the road, we use milk on our cereal as opposed to Draino and we take medications as directed instead of swallowing the entire bottle in one instance.

We can judge...as long as we are willing to be judged. That's the part they always leave out. Uh, nice try folks, but it doesn't matter what we think.

In fact we are actually supposed to judge. Luke 12:57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

I certainly am glad that I have two roadmaps in the truck; one to find my way along the asphalt jungle and one to find my way through this life.
