What do you do with the generator sitting outside your van when it rains? And what do you do when you need AC and thereby the generator, but there's a chance of rain or pop up showers, but you need to go to sleep? You just forgo the generator and AC on those days? I drive someone else's van so I can't put a box on it.

Generators are built to be out on the weather just make sure they can't get taken.
Because your driving someone else's van your best bet is to use a good powerful fan to cool yourself off with.

That's a no go. Fans do essentially nothing, especially when it's humid. Parked in the sun, I can imagine how hot it will be.

Hot very hot...been there done that and yes...you don't enjoy sleeping in your sweat.
