Radar detectors

Love mine!!! After 11 years, my Bel Driver STi took a crap.... I spent a lot of time researching the newer ones and for me , this seems to be the newer MVP. I've had it since October, and is great. Lets me know where there's a photo gun or photo red light camera present. Has superb distance. Remember, radar detectors are just a tool, they are not perfect. I don't go flying around corners or over hills. I don't really use it to speed but to help me pay attention. We all have those days where the road seems to be never ending and towns come up on you in a blink of an eye.

Its been out about a year...Uniden R3...Amazon or Best Buy. I've done tons of research on these and this was tied for 1st place in my eyes. I ran a Bel DriverSTi for almost 11 years. I didn't feel for a extra $300, that the Escort Max360 was that much better... I have used radar detectors since I started driving in 1994.

Since Virginia has radar detector detectors, I have a radar detector detector detector....lmao..
Truth!!!! Which one do you run?

In the van, nothing. But, after reading you're reviews of the one you have, I watched the you tube videos on those Unidens R3's, and bought one for the car. I was home this weekend and had a chance to test it out. It worked beautifully with a long range.

Just an FYI, my high school friend who is a State Trooper told me one night that a huge portion of his citations written are for left lane speed violations. In other words, use the left lane for passing as quickly and safely as possible, and than get back over to the right, is what he tells me.

Used to use a Valentine One back in the day, should probably get one again for my car driving, but I never exceed 70 in the Sprinter, although last year I got a 65 in a 45 somewhere up 45 min NW of Atlanta. I could have sworn it was a 55 mph highway, 4 lanes and everything with stop lights.

That was a good unit, too!!..i didn't want to spend the extra dough on the directional indicator...i figured if its going off, I'm getting on the binders anyway!!!

Do any of you use googlemaps app as your GPS? I've been using it for the past 2 or 3 years. I love the current traffic feature how it will route you the quickest way around a traffic jam. But driving a semi truck I have to be careful of that and only go on those detours when I am familiar with the area. A few months ago they added a speed traps feature where you or other motorists can report speed traps. I don't report them because I dont mess with the phone while driving but it's pretty nifty.

Honestly I couldn't truck without googlemaps app. It's one of the most useful tools I have and I cant imagine not using it. Can't tell you the times I have routed off the interstate and saved 30 minutes or an hour due to a traffic jam and watched other trucks drive right on into the mess. You can tell who is running GPS with real time traffic and who is trucking blind. The CB used to be your friend but even then sometimes the info garnered from it could be sketchy at best. You'd have to judge was it worth it to take the detour or not based off word of mouth. The CB is practically useless anymore. When I started trucking back in 2000 I was only using roadmaps and payphones to get directions. Figuring up ETA's with a calculator. I didnt get a cell phone until around 2003 and didnt get a GPS until I got a tomtom in 2011.
