I retired from UPS-SCS (Independent Contractor) last year after 24 years OTR (Usually deliveries between 50-250 miles rt).
Can't believe the incredible numbers of new "expeditors" that watch videos of other newbies on YouTube making "easy money".
So, then they start making videos until the novelty wears off and their monthly van payment comes due and they discover the "joy" of sitting at a truck stop for several days waiting for dispatch to call with a low-ball offer (which they will eventually have to accept).
Rinse and repeat.
Most newbies now have huge loans on their 'expeditor van' and are finding out their are too many vans and not enough good paying runs.
A sure-fire recipe for financial disaster(s).
Same calamity awaits the new You Tube hot shot newbies. Too many vans/trucks and the dispatchers offer crappy rates/offers knowing full well the law os supply and demand.
Guess us 'old timers' were lucky to discover expediting years ago before the laws of Supply and demand kicked in.
