Go to Arlington, just drive down some major streets and look for any industrial area, pull in walk to main street and pick up a cab. Look for lots of foot traffic, I have delivered and PU in Arlington, I arrived way early and took in a nice lunch and great nap.

Two exits East of 95 on 495 go North they are off to your left or West try a couple of blocks enjoy

DC has a good light-rail transit system called the Metro. Go to one of the furthest stations out in the Arlington direction. Safer to park the truck out there. You'll have to find a parking place for the truck. Then walk or take a cab to the station and take the Metro to the Mall where Congress is on one end and the Lincoln Memorial is on the other, and the White House is near and the Washington Monument is in the middle, and the Jefferson Memorial is in sight, along with the Viet Nam memorial and other smaller memorials. If you have time, buy a day pass for the trains. That gives you the freedom to explore. National Archives (where original Declaration of Independence is displayed) and Smithsonian museums and U.S. Treasury are also near the Mall. Native American Art Museum is interesting too. Lots to see and do. Walking around Georgetown is fun too. Lots of great shops and resturants. Trains can take you there too, or if you are in for some exercise the walk is not all that far.

I've been in and around the mall a fair amount as a pedestrian in a previous career. All of our DC deliveries have been quick as we have been dispatched on other loads soon after. If you find a good parking place, please let us know. DC is a great town, politics aside.

Sorry it took so long to get back with this thread. My peace keeping duties have kept me and my limited typing abilites busy.

Thanks to the both of you for the help. We delivered at the Holocaust Museum, which is beside the Federal Reserve, and across the street from the Washington Monument. When we drove by there I thought back to my 7th grade class field trip where most of us guys climbed up all of those stairs and thought nothing of it. Reminds me now of the story of two bulls on the top of a hill looking at a herd of female cows, one old and one young. "Lets run down there and ...., no lets walk down and ....says the older of the two. Anyway I digress, I thought the elevator looked to be the best option.

Before we could even get to an area for parking we got a load offer. Hmmmm $1200.00 or sight seeing, was in Michigan the next morning.

Thanks for the help anyway.
