That looks like a hose clamp from the lunar explorer. The inventor was related to Jose Jimenez

I believe thats a hose clamp for the lower coolant hose on a Detriot series 50 engine in a Freightliner FL106. Seems I remember removing one while changing a blown hose on my "D" unit a few years back.
Could be wrong though, and I have NO idea who invented it unless it was Larry at Ideal hose clamps. You do know Larry don't you?? Everybody knows Larry!?!?! Or maybe you have just used his products at one time or another.

Looks like a constant torque hose clamp. They have the ability to expand and contract according to temperature. Like Tang, Doans Pills and Preperation H it was probably developed for the space program.

OK, every truck has at least a few of these types of clamps.

It is called a Marman clamp.

The thing was invented by Herbert Marx and produced by his company Marman Products Company, Inc.

It was used during the war for a lot of different things but the really important purpose was to hold the Atomic Bomb in place in the Enola Gay. It is still used for all kinds of things, including the space shuttle and an awful lot of trucks.

Wow. I just googled Marman clamp and it was zeppo Marx who invented it. I was being a smart ##### with the Marx Brothers comment. I guess I really am a smart #####. To the head of the class I go.
