Get your coax checked out. That can make a significant difference in performance. Also your antenna whips. You can't get spectacular performance legally from any cb. It just doesn't have the power or frequency to do it. Those things potentially can help though.

Bambam,
Just because it is new does not mean that it is any good.

Find a good CB shop who can make sure that the radio is installed and the coax and antenna are good. The most important thing is having the antenna tuned properly and having the right coax for the radio.

How much power are you expecting out of the radio? I've had several Uniden 78's, and am definately a fan. I have 2 of them now. They have ample power, and receive better than many. Well peaked and tuned, they dead key a solid legal 5 watts, and will swing (PEP) about 17 watts. That should be more than plenty. If you're expecting more than that, you've got the wrong radio.

As Leo and Greg said, have your equipment checked out, and have your SWR checked.. Your antenna may not be grounding. The Wilson's are great antennas, but MUST have a near perfect ground. A quick SWR check will reveal if you're grounding or not.
