Question on DOT medical exam.

Can a new driver use their own doctor for the DOT physical or do they have to use a specially qualififed one? I know the FAA requires pilots to use only FAA certified medical examiners, I was wondering if it was the same for the trucking industry.

If I need s DOT quslified examiner, is there a list I can look at to find one in my area (New Jersey)?

Any Med Center or Emergency Med Center will be able to do DOT physical. My own doctor refered me much less expensive than a office visit at your doctors. About $40.00 I would call in advance to make sure that there doctor or doctors have the necessary forms for you. I had to have mine mailed to me as they were out. Kraig Allen

Just a quick note. Some carriers now, including my own will only accept a physical from certain clinics. I would always check with your carrier to make sure they accept you clinic or physician.
