Question for O/O

O.K. I know the expenses for insurance and Qual-comm for Panther.
I have also figured the est. cost for gas for a Cargo Van.
I also have figured a maintance escrow to be kept seperate from other income.
I can also figure basic "living needs".

Beside the basics I'm sure I'm missing something. What else should I be looking out for?

Again any help would be welcomed from O/O and drivers.

Looks like you have most of your costs down. The real questionis how accurate are your numbers. When I started expediting I figured $1.50 for a gallon of gas. This was a worst case, never happen in a million years, safe and conservative estimate. Man was I ever wrong!

I'm sure you figured in all the major stuff like tires and batteries but does your maintenance figure account for oil changes every 5000-10,000 miles, headlights, wiperblades, washes etc. All of these smaller items add up.

Also have a reserve in the bank. Chances are you will not see your first paycheck until 3 or 4 weeks after you deliver your first load.

Good luck!

That should read oil changes every 5,000 to 7,000 for regular oil.

Also, you'll need E track, and various cargo securing things, like straps & load bars, plus the fire extinguisher & triangles that an inspection requires - lots of little, but really necessary stuff that amounts to a chunk of change when you add it all up.

Wow I missed a lot of stuff and that's just the beginning. Soon you will buy things that make the job a little easier and life on the road more comfortable.

How could I forget about quarterly taxes since I just kited checks to the State of Minnesota and the U.S.Treasury.

Ah, welcome to the world of expediting.
