1. Bordentown, NJ. Petro truck stop. Lots of good freight coming out of that area. Other expediters are usualy there to visit with. Clean showers. Safe and easy place to park on the east coast.

2. Los Angeles, CA. Good freight in and out. Weather is usually good any time of the year. Lots of tourist stuff to do if time permits.

3. Minneapolis, MN. Good freight going out most days. Can park on our concrete pad at home and do truck cleaning and maintenance easier than on the road.

Louisville, KY for Mark's Feed Store BBQ and Mike Linnig's fish restaurant. Mark's has one of the best sauces you'll ever find in the red sauce and if you like it spicier the orange sauce will suit you. I met a nice guy who is a server at Mike Linnig's the other day who has been with them for 42 years. Mike Linnig's has the best tarter sauce anywhere. There are a few other servers with decades with them as well. I also have a good friend that lives there so if he's home I have someone to hang out with.

Memphis Tn,practically never without a load out of there,
Newark Nj,another great area for a fedex team, always busy there
Chicago Il,sit there over a day, your turning too many loads down.

If I'm not really looking to keep busy, there are many places I like, just for the resturants, but there are to many to list

OK, so where it says 3 cities I read 3 favorite places, those being Mark's BBQ, Mike Linnig's fish place and my buddy's place.

I like Circleville, OH because there is a very good restaurant there and it's a chance to visit another good friend of mine who lives nearby.

My third favorite would be a tie between any of the places that have good ham radio stores.

This is such an interesting question as we have just recently changed carriers.

As far as business goes:

Laredo TX, that used to be the worst area is now our best for a good load. And if the timing is right we get to stop in San Antonio to go to MiTerra

Atlanta GA is better freight than we had been getting with our previous carier but, the options for good, safe parking are limited to the Petro.

Charlotte NC is great because we get good loads now, we get to visit our friends, Barbara and George who recently retired from expediting and best of all the K & W Cafeteria.

Footnote:
We had our atlas marked with all the good spots for a long time. Now it's time to change the routes and have the chance to explore something different. What a great profession to be a part of!!!

1. My back yard, Atlanta express center but 60 miles west, can't beat the ammenities and I always get a good load within 48 hours.

2. Georgetown, Ky, two clean Pilots for showers and good Wal-Mart Supercenter to stay at nearby. Close to Cincinnati and Louisville for loads.

3. Evansville, In. I like the area and the parking lots at the T stops are large. Only 150 miles to Nashville if I don't get out the same or next day.

El Paso, TX...if you're in the mood for real Mexican food, this is definately the spot. The night time view into Mexico is absolutley GORGEOUS, and if you're in the mood to venture over there, while it is a culture shock, it's very interesting, and not hard to find a ride over and back.
Boston, MA...The history of this city is unbelievable...there are tours for every taste and restauraunts to match...the night time ghost tour being our favorite, so far...followed by the harbor Duck tour. Lots of night life spots to go out of service and enjoy with ample public transportation available.
Miami, FL...can you say beaches, tans, and beautiful "scenery"?!!!! We just dropped a load off down there and spent the day fishing off of the Dania pier, then ventured back over to enjoy the Miami Seaqarium the following day...and of course I grew up in this area and I know a few out-of-the-way places to go and visit. If you're in the mood to get away from the hustle and bustle of Miami...the Everglades and the airboat tours are not far away.

Of course we have plenty of other cities that we love to take a day or 2 off and enjoy...after all that's one of the main reasons we do this!

Gosh this is tough..
Unlike some I can't base my choices on available freight cause a layover means we will be awhile, that being said...
Always look forward to Vegas because of the uh... shows and I know we can pull from San Diego, LA, Oakland or even Vegas.
Oregon and Washington state just for the sheer beauty of both states (hit the back roads you will see what I mean).
And finally Miami cause we get to visit family in West Palm.
The neat thing about this job is we can make the rounds 3-4 times of year and enjoy the very best there is to see so yes I guess we fall in that paid tourist category "enjoying getting back to our favorites" but that is what makes it worth it.

Los Angeles, CA since my best friend lives there and she always finds the best things for us to do!! Beaches, Malls, Amusement Parks and the list can go on and on....
Besides, we get great runs from there too!

El Paso, TX, not only for the great runs but when we are layed over, we like to go over to the shopping district in Mexico. I bought some neat gifts for myself and the family!!

And last but not least, Falls PA. (I know you are all wondering where that is) It is not in the freight lines but it is home sweet home! That is where my heart is and where I am surrounded by love from my family and friends!

There are alot of beautiful areas out here and many things to see and do but there is nothing like being home! (I am not sure if Jim would agree but those are my favorites)
