QualComm Repair

We are getting our QualComm repaired and I thought I would mention the problem in case anyone else is having problems and thought it was the aliens. Ours kept going out (not connecting and the light would stay red). We would wait a while and hope it would connect as we moved to a different spot. But no luck! It just would not stay connected. Sometimes it would connect for a minute or two then the red light was back on with no connection. We tried everything. Finally I called our QualComm team and asked if it would help if I kicked it with my steel toe shoe. Hey, it helps with the computers! They said, "Sure, then you can buy a new QualComm. Works for us." Very funny!!! Anyway, we are out of service right now and Frank has gone to Richmond to get it repaired or replaced. It isn't always the cloudy weather or the gremlins that get it so you might need to have it checked out if you run into a similar problem. india

We had lots of QC repairs when we ran for Con-Way Now. It was always the same thing: the spinning antenna inside the dome would lock up. CWN insisted that the repair facility fix the problem with a rebuilt unit. On average they lasted 5-6 months. We have been with Landstar for just a year. They installed a brand new QC dome and keyboard. We have had zero down time with this unit.:)

I find sometimes when my qc does that,I just shut the power off to it for a few seconds and it will reboot, this usually works.I've had a qualcom for so many years I dont remember when I got the 1st one,as I was one of the testers with roberts express.the unit I have now,is an older unit but has not givin me any trouble since installed in 2005,qc's are electrical, anything can happen, thats why you dont want to buy one, just rent it,fed ex pays all the repairs

I had a different type of problem with my qualcomm a few weeks ago.

For 3 straight mornings my batteries were drained needing a jump start.

After an exchaustive check to find the drain it turned out to be the cable leading from qualcomm to the dome it was drawing 2amps. Once that was replaced the problem was solved.

Good Luck with your problem.
