Qualcom and Panther

For the last 3 days we've been having issues with our Qualcom going into the "we've lost you" mode and dropping both of us to line 4 on our logs. Are any other Panther drivers having this trouble? We called and they were suppose to be checking into it, but we haven't heard anything. This is a real pain in the rear, when logs have to be edited for each change of status.:(

And the qc is never wrong either. So get ready for a note from the log-nazi to change your logs according to what the benevolent computer says you really did.

Did I mention I hate qualcomm? :7

Sorry... bored outta my gourd!!! :p

We are not on the paperless, but had a truck today disappear for an hour. Might have been weather related? This happened during a unload in Detroit. Then again, maybe it was ice or condensation in the dome as they came up from SC where it was warm?

Update: We had to have an MAS update done on the QC...what's that you ask? A new "black box". Went to a place in Atlanta and they replaced it. Not sure exactly what the deal was, we were told QC did some kind of massive download, so we needed a new box. (Aren't I just so tech savvy?) :p
We can be "found" now, but..now we have to have the log stuff turned on again. I wouldn't mind if they forgot about that part :D

I love my paperless logs. On thing i notice is that if your QC isnt picking up a signal for a period of time (truck being fixed, at in indoor shipper for extended periods of time, under a tree, etc..) that it will put both the driver and the co driver onto line 4. I hate this and think its dumb but i just deal with it and go and fix the logs. Other then that not having to do logs everynight, calculate how far you have driven (wrost with a team) or fear that you went over on hours the QC keeps track of it and lets you know.

That's exactly what it was doing while it was messed up. Talk about irritating

Yes it does make me mad. Another thing i tried to do when the truck is in the shop is to log out of the logs. And then once you come back to log in. But sometimes when logging into the system it puts you automatically on line 4. But i think thats starting to change. I wonder if panther changed the way the logs go for being out of coverage and logging into the logs.

I havent verified any of my methods so try at your own risk :+

Two or three times I have been in Ft. Wayne, IN and Panther dispatch said my QC said I was close to Louisville, KY. Never figured that one out. I was in my van. :+ :+

I think that's called a "bad ping"

Recently we've been getting a "vehicle inspection message" Evidently, it was a glitch in the system, and we were suppose to be getting this message all the time.
We called about it, because there are questions on this form that don't apply to a straight truck (coupling devices, trailer brakes, etc) We'll be calling again on Monday because we were told to leave those questions blank and that isn't an option.

Let me know how that works out.. I get that message too and have to fill it out and wondered about that. So if the DOT says well point out your coupling devices i'll just point to the door latch :+

Pelicn: on the QC fields that don't apply to your truck, can you put N/A for not applicable on the line, just to get the QC to accept it? It has worked for me, on other screens.

Those vehicle inspection reports have woken me up in the middle of the night a couple times already! We'll deliver, and Zak does the paperwork and then hours later in the middle of our "mandatory" break it sends that message. Grrr...

One of the questions we can put N/A but the other ones are strictly "Y" or "N".
Yes, they've woken us up too...GRRRRR
