The sitter who "didn't realize it was negligent" may be one of the dumbest people around, but she nailed it with this quote: "It's not like they give you an instruction manual."
Nope, they don't - parents have to learn the job on the job, and the lack of effort so many put into it is what I think of whenever I hear that 'parents should have the right' to do whatever.
That's my point. There's no official instruction manual, which leaves it up to each individual parent to figure out how
they want to raise
their kids. Ask a thousand parents how to raise kids, and you'll get a thousand different answers, all of which are wrong. Or right, depending on who you ask. No manual means you can do it however you want. Who is to be the judge of
you and how you raise
your kids? Me? Them? They? Whomever? You and your kids are your business, not mine or anyone else's.
An awful lot of parents shouldn't be trusted to raise a goldfish!
That may be true, but it doesn't really have anything to do with raising kids. If God trusts them enough to build 'em so they can have kids, I'm fine with that.
Free Will doesn't mean people have the freedom to impose their will onto others. The whole notion of, "I disagree with how you are doing it, therefore you should do it the way I think you should," is absurd on the face of it. And it gets even more absurd when you get into the details.
