but why not be able to harm yourself . it is your life , your body

YES no harm to others !!!

now what do you mean harm ?? do you mean just bodly harm . or do you also mean mental harm , financial harm , any form of harm to others .

No man is an island. There is a school of thought which holds that when an individual harms himself, society at large is harmed.

The plot thickens as we get to "the rest of the story"......now everyone that thought this person should be able to do with her own child as she wished.......what would you say if it was your child with your babysitter.
Doesn't matter if it's my child or not, the babysitter shouldn't be able to do as she wishes with someone else's child. The parent(s) may or may not be OK with this. To take it one step further, instead of arresting and charging the babysitter, the police should have informed the child's parent(s) and then let the parents decide whether or not to prosecute. But no, the police are investigating the mother, who could very well be charged with child endangerment for allowing such a reckless person to babysit her child. The driver of the pickup is being investigated.

Meanwhile, the child is perfectly fine.

Who cares about a kid in the back of a truck. Apparently it didn't die or even get hurt.

What I want to know is, is that a wheelchock or someone's head by the left front tire of this truck? It also appears that this truck had a recent collision with a pizza delivery dude. The evidence is still clinging to the grill. These 3rd world types should never have been allowed to reap the benefits of the industrial revolution. They sully the image of straight truck drivers.

shouldnt the mother be innocent . some people can put on a good show how great they are . how could she control what the babysitter does to her child when she is not any where near . some people can put on a good show how great they are .

to me that shows how good the over paid law enforcement really is . and yes over paid when they do stupid stuff

just think if people would just do the job they are hired for .both of these problems would not be happening

sort of like the voters are innocent but the are being charged for allowing such a reckless government to babysit big companies

what is wrong with haveing that child in a stroller in the back of the truck .

was the truck going 100 mph?? or any unsave speed ??
was the stroller moveing around in the back of the truck ???
was the driver drunk or was the mother drunk that was holding on to the stroller ??

next people will need to bubble warp their children . untill the turn 18 . while that cop was writing the tickets. a child was truely being abused . but now seince the cop was busy writing this ticket the true abused child will be able to get truely abased agian another day .

would i do it no not really because there is to many what ifs . just like would i try to do the stunts they do with motorcycles . but you dont see people makeing a big deal about them doing the stunts they do . and how many of them have been hurt or been killed doing the stunts . probley more then from rideing in the back of a truck .

so glad people have great standards

and for the one chef posted take the child away and any other ones she has . and then sew her baby maker shut .

The sitter who "didn't realize it was negligent" may be one of the dumbest people around, but she nailed it with this quote: "It's not like they give you an instruction manual."
Nope, they don't - parents have to learn the job on the job, and the lack of effort so many put into it is what I think of whenever I hear that 'parents should have the right' to do whatever.
An awful lot of parents shouldn't be trusted to raise a goldfish!
PS As Aristotle mentioned, the laws requiring car seats and seat belts [and helmets] are to protect society from the catastrophic costs of injuries - but they don't seem to have helped the cost of medical care [or insurance] go down any.....

You can't make laws to force people to have common sense.

The best thing to do is to have a law where if the child gets hurt, then the parent can be punished not a law that prevents the child form getting hurt. I know this sound stupid but you know many of us survived without car seats, padded rubbery clothing, or big brother telling us how to live.

Yeah but if they don't have a law in place they can't then tell them they did something wrong.

Sorry that's a lame excuse.

The law doesn't mean a thing until it is enforced. The enforcement with the amount of cops we have is what? 1 in 100,000 or 1 in 500,000? So a law is meaningless.

We have a law here, pools are supposed to be secured with a fence or some other device to prevent a kid from falling into it but we had just that happen, a 3 year old drowned across the street. The law didn't do a thing to help the parent to prevent that from happening and the kid is dead. IT would have been better to charge the parent with neglect and maybe homicide because they were not responsible enough to think about what happens with the pool being out in the open because it was neglect.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I know having a law doesn't mean all will follow it or that it prevents everything bad from happening. I am saying you can't punish someone for a law that doesn't exist, a cop can't send you to jail because you don't have a tattoo.

That's my point. There's no official instruction manual, which leaves it up to each individual parent to figure out how they want to raise their kids. Ask a thousand parents how to raise kids, and you'll get a thousand different answers, all of which are wrong. Or right, depending on who you ask. No manual means you can do it however you want. Who is to be the judge of you and how you raise your kids? Me? Them? They? Whomever? You and your kids are your business, not mine or anyone else's.

An awful lot of parents shouldn't be trusted to raise a goldfish!
That may be true, but it doesn't really have anything to do with raising kids. If God trusts them enough to build 'em so they can have kids, I'm fine with that. Free Will doesn't mean people have the freedom to impose their will onto others. The whole notion of, "I disagree with how you are doing it, therefore you should do it the way I think you should," is absurd on the face of it. And it gets even more absurd when you get into the details.

I found the wheelchock/head thing and the pizza slices. Turtle found the Pizza Hut insulated pizza carrying case. I think I found Sally Struther's butt or maybe it's just a bale of cotton. Let's see who can find Ed Asner and Boutros Boutros Ghali. This hidden picture game sure is fun!

Hahahahaha, the comedy is great, you could go on Jon Stewart's show and play a character like Stephen Colbert which is one of the few funny things he has done. Chefdennis called it, look into comedy. A law everyone should have a tattoo, hahahaaa.
