I bet if you remove the air filter all together your fuel economy will increase even more. K&n improves air flow at the expense of filtration efficiency. Do your engine a favor and use the OEM air filter.

Countless stories on the internet about letting dust pass. Try coating a thin little film of grease in the piping AFTER the filter, and check how much dust is coating it after your next cleaning...

Always follow the money. If Dodge could change filters and boost economy 3 mpg, why wouldn't they do it?
You now have your answer. Stick to the OEM or similar.
