the other note i turned it on and it ran for 15 min before shutting off. i tried a couple more times but 15 min is all i got each time so i just hunkered down in the sleeping bag. it has 408 hrs on it and i am waitning for the air cleaner to arrive to get it serviced next week.

has anyone experienced their proheat gen shutting off like this?before you ask i did not know to read the ccu panel for a coed.

Have you checked coolant and oil levels and belts? I believe it has 3 belts total and might run temporarily with one broken. It could also be low coolant and runs until it warms up to cutoff level. Reading the code off the panel is the other thing, if you do try it again. Good luck.

Brings back memories:

Most of them are OK but once in a while you get to know every Service Center in the U.S. and Canada well most anyway.

And where to get the parts from? More than once the display model or the new one to be installed in two weeks is where I got my parts. I learned alot about these units all FREE Education, just an expensive Trip to the Dealer usually about 200 miles.

I would love the convience of another just do not care to ever re visit the BREAKDOWNS "S" The first 14 months she was worked on 16 times, the next 14 months SHE WAS PERFECT.

broom,

it ran fine until 408 hrs. got the parts from bumper to bumper auto parts. they carry all the filters in stock except the air filter and that is a couple day delivery. i should have had these on hand at the 300 hr mark. i have extras ordered.

leo, i will go out to the truck and check the belts and levels.

i heard that proheat got bought up by thermo king. interesting that all the service centers on the proheat site are not affiliated with
thermo king. that is about 7 or 8 peterbilt locations in wisc and ill.

How about your operators manual? Did you check it out??

A. Blair had ProHeats on their trucks, and they were lemons. The electronics under the sleeper kept failing.

I got mine fixed at TransiCold locations near Atlanta and in Phoenix. Also, Peterbilt in London, Ontario.

A. Blair no longer has ProHeats on their trucks.

well i will take a beating but will admit the gen was low on oil. there is a service panel inside the gen box with trouble lights to advise what to look for. the red light was on for oil. added rotella t and it worked fine.
another item to add to the maintenance checking.
i check the engine oil why have i not checked the gen oil?

the list of things to learn grows by one.

That probably should be things "learned". Coulda been costly if the thing hadn't been "idiot proofed".

Just anuther reason to read the operational material for your equipment, steada sitting in the seat look'in out the windshield at the truck stop.

You'd be amazed at the folks i've taken for "check runs" for a week or two, that never even looked for the dipstick, or, anything else. Needless to type, their "career" with my equipment was short lived. As a mater of fact, it ended as soon as I got close to the house again.

Seems the prevailing attitude[If it ain't mine, I don't give a #####], or maybe, they treat their own equipment that way, and just don't know any better.

....and you know what col, i have talked to owners and asked about going out with me to familiarize myself with their equipment and the answer was, "you will do just fine. "
