Program to make graphs

I just checked out Microsoft's program called Office, and the only feature I'd use is Excel's ability to make graphs and charts. It doesn't seem worth it to spend $200 on Office just to make graphs when I wouldn't use any of Excel's other features, and I also don't need PowerPoint, Outlook or Word. Is there a cheaper program available that only makes charts? I just want to do simple stuff; for example, make a chart showing how much I spent on fuel each year, a chart showing how many miles I drove each year, etc.

Microsoft Works isn't free but has a decent spreadsheet plus Word.
