You'd think the Driving test, Hazmat test, air brake test, drug test alcohol test and need to memorize regulations from each of the states would cause the elevation of our status to, at the very least, semi-skilled labor.

Interesting posts about life style on the road.just yesterday i stopped at at the Petro in Bordentown NJ and the TA in Paulsboro NJ.Both truck stops had golf carts ,guys who would drive around and bring the 300 pounders out of their truck in the back up to the buffet line so they could keep that 300 pounds going. I was thinking why can't these guys walk and possibly burn up 50 calories. It cannot be fun to be that obese but they soldier on eating like starving dogs, smoke like a chimney, drink a 12 pack every day and wonder why they don't feel well.
BTW the TA in Paulsboro was selling fuel at $1.92 per gallon,at Bordentown the Petro and Pilot were selling fuel at $2.22, go figure.

Darn it Rich, you gave away the Paulsboro secret LOL:7 I HATE Bordentownx(
Just a safety note if you go to Paulsboro and decide to cruise around the downtown areas of Paulsboro or Gibbstown after dusk- a lot of gang-bangers there, be careful. The T/A is safe and patrolled by police.

Being a professional has nothing to do with what your job title is, it's about how you DO that job.

A slacker does what he has to to get buy, the bare minimum to keep himself from being fired. His attitude is bad, he can't be bothered with what he SHOULD be doing, just what he can get away with. He doesn't care what people think of him, or what appearance he gives. Quality of work is not his concern, pride is non-existant.

On the other hand, a professional, be he janitor, or executive, takes pride in his job. He does it to the best of his ability. He goes the extra mile to make sure his work is the best. He takes pride in his appearance, and never appears sloppy, no matter what size he is.

(side note here.. I'm one of those "big guys" and you will NEVER see me in sweats and too small t-shirt.. )

A true professional never stops learning. He keeps up to date on the latest developments in his field, so that he can better prepare himself, to keep his job done well. He is willing to help others in his field achieve THEIR personal best, without demanding anything in return, because that's the right thing to do. He doesn't try to keep down others, sabotage or insult their efforts.

In short, as I said.. it's not about what you do.. it's how you do it.. it's your attitude... it's what you are.

It's about Integrity.. doing the right thing, when nobody's watching.

The Lord's Prayer is 66 words, the Gettysburg Address is 286 words, there are 1,322 words in the Declaration of Independence, but government regulations on the sale of cabbage total 26,911 words.
