Hi jtv, welcome to the forum. I've heard nothing but good about this dealership concerning generator repair. Maybe give them a call:

TSI is EXCELLENT, but so is St. Louis, and Ft. Wayne.

You will find once it begins working properly, you will be very happy with it. But just getting it to work right, well good luck.

Call the Number in British Columbia, ask for MAX. He knows these Pro-Heats, well almost as well as me since I have thanked him and threatned him in the same conversation..... The only reason he is alive is cause of a thing called a BORDER. If you do talk to him tell him Kraig said HI.

TSI in North Jackson, Ohio, has a well-deserved reputation as a generator repair facility. I know of truck owners that became Western Star owners, buying their trucks from TSI after having their generators worked on there.

We have learned to not drive quickly away from a repair facility once a repair is made. It pays to test drive the truck and inspect the areas that were worked on. If you need to return, you are not so far away that it would be difficult to do so.

In your case, where troubles surface one day after repeated repair attempts, you might think about staying put for a day to run your generator through its paces and see if the problem reoccurs. It will cost you a day of down time but that may be the best choice given what has happend so far.

Happiness is a generator that works.

Ain't that the truth...I would add to that that happiness is a generator that has an a/c system that is effective in this heat wave.DD.

Have you found one of those?

Yes, we have, if you count our roof top AC unit as part of the system. Our Onan produces electricity only. That power runs the AC unit on the roof. The roof unit is a Carrier Air V, similar to those used on RVs.

In even the hottest weather, in our 132" sleeper, we have never had to run the Air V over the low cool setting. High cool will freeze us out of the truck. When the truck is running and the generator is not, the bunk unit that is tied into the truck's AC system cools the truck. While the bunk unit will not freeze you out of the truck, it cools the sleeper just fine, even on the hottest of days. Sleeper insulation quality is a factor too. Our sleeper is well insulated. Sleeper manufacturer: ARI.

Yes, the Onan with the rooftop units works great. But the stand alone Proheat units with air conditioning just can't keep up with the heat in the larger sleepers.

The only time in my 84 that the Pro-Heat did not keep up with was in Laredo at about 1PM to 6PM. Cool well... Cold not. Considering the temp guage in the sun actually was reaading 132 I got give it a break.

Anytime else. She was cold. Now heat it would cook ya, but the insulation was 0 on the floor board so I could not blame the unit. It worked great until below 0 or colder than it was run the truck and APU. 0 F or colder is just plain NASTY. I love cold but thats survival for us or at least it is for me.

Question why when it gets that cold does the wind have to blow at 20mph or more? Never fails for me.

have a 2004 proheat that has over 20,000 hrs on it. have replaces a few belts. oil changes regular. 1 fuel pump and the compressor died this year $1600. over all it has been a great unit. I do all the maintance myself except the compressor change out. It hanges on a truck its gona need repair sooner or later. Will be building a newer truck with bigger sleeper this fall/winter and will need a bigger ac/heater unit. will be going with a roof top unit with a diesel generator. When I need service I use williams/carrier in columbus ohio. Great shop with fast friendly service.
