Pro Driver or Steering Wheel Holder?

Last night I got so mad. A guy came driving by my house doing every bit of 70 in his pick up obvisously drunk. He drove in the yard and almost hit my house. This guy drives for Covenant. Supposed to be a pro driver. Here is where I go on my rant if you want to be called a pro conduct yourself in a professional manner weather you are in a commercial vehicle or personal vehicle. His girlfriend has told my wife and I how he enjoyes popping assorted pills and smoking marijuana. She swears he doesn't while in the truck, but she says he drives better with 1 or 2 beers in his system so sometimes he has a couple while he's at work. Guy's like this almost make me embarresed to hold a cdl. I've been contemplating calling Covenant and letting them know what kind of guy they have working for them, but they may see it as no big deal. What would you do?

Let me think here. This could take a lot of thought and debate. NOT! IF what you say is true I'm just as dismayed the question even has to be asked. ABSOLUTELY call them IMMEDIATELY.

But it'simportant that some how you keep that driver from knowing your name and address as if he loses his job he may want to take revenge on you. Tough call but he needs to be reported as he probably has other incidents in his past.

I wouldn't even hesitate to call his company and report him. This guy might hit a vehicle next time and seriously injure or kill someone, including himself.

Just curious: were the police involved? Had it been me, I would've called them too. This guy is an accident waiting to happen.

Call.

I remember one incident in particular where we were driving along a lonely stretch of narrow two-lane northern road following a small car.

The car was going well below the speed limit, yet at each opportunity to pass the car would block the way. Finally gave up after a couple of attempts... drove 40 mph all the way into the next town.

While driving along enjoying the scenery we called ahead to the police in the next town. By the time we rolled into town the welcoming committee, police, were there. They viewed our video recordings, then went to have a chat with the driver.

I don't know how it turned out because we moved along when the police gave us the all clear.

Did I mention yet? Call.

The highways to some extend need to become more self-policing. No, this doesn't mean you take action yourself... but it does mean you let the proper authorities know what is happening.

Yes, please call. Now.

Did you call yet? :+

If This guy is a Driver for Covenent , don't they have random drug/alcohol testing done on their Drivers ????
Maybe you can make a anonymous call on him and request they test him !!!
You need positive proof not som wife stating something !
I quess I would have called the cops right after this happened !
I would call Covenent but "be carefull" and not give your name/address or number ?
Retaliation as someone said earlier !!
Good Luck and Be Safe !!

Of course you should call Covenant, but the rules for drug /alcohol screening are pretty strict - they may not be able to do one, on the word of a bystander. The police can, however, so that's who I'd call first.

If there were any witnesses(the more the better), you could call the police and have everybody make a statement putting him behind the wheel, of course this would have to happen right after the incident. Don't know what the laws are there but we had an incident a couple of years ago, where a guy clipped a car and knocked over a street sign in our neighborhood, he kept going, several of the neighbors witnessed it and got the plate# and car description, the police found the guy later at home drunk, he denied driving, but several of the neighbors id'd him as the driver, and that was enough for the police to give him a DUI, and charge him with leaving the scene. A DUI would definately put a damper on his driving career(at least with a reputable carrier anyway) Tom.

Let me explain further. The police were called. I got the county deputies, and they transfered me to the state police. the state police said insince it was in a residential area it was the counties responsibilty. Our constable is sick with cancer and can't hardly get out of the house. I called Covenant's safety depatment and they just have a voicemail. So i left a message with them first thing this morning. So I guess now it's on them.
Where I live there is no law enforcement. That's why there are all these people out here cooking meth. All the kids say go party in Wright because there are no police. It's sad because all the law abiding citizens pretty much just have to deal with it. All of our pleading to county and state officals have fallen on deaf ears.

What would I do?

If he drove on the lawn, I would call the company and tell them "see you in court" for the damages they did to the lawn. I would talk to the state police again (here is it not a problem in rural areas, they will come out in my area) and ask them nicely to send someone out to at least look at the damage.

he was in his personal vehicle when this happened that why i was kinda torn about calling the company. but i did anyway. if he can't handle a four wheeler how can he handle one with 18 wheels. his girlfriend just called my wife and said he couldn't go back to work today like he was supposed to because he got called in for a random drug test, and he can't go back to work until the results are in.
