Pre Pass

At one time the states wanted to use prepass to track you from scale to scale to see if you were speeding etc prepass took the states to court and won their argument was if the states were allowed to use it to track it would bankrupt the company and put them out of business because no one would use their product if it could be used against you

Not with PrePass but with technology that photographs license plates, at least one state, Washington, is issuing speeding tickets by marking the truck at two locations and doing the math to determine the speed at which the truck was traveling between the two points.

Washington, Idaho and Oregon are not Pre Pass members, they use NorPass, and YES they do compute the time from one location to another. I KNOW ..... I claim the 5th on the details!

When you cross the Scale/POE in Farwell Bend, Or and receive a citation in Medford, Or a few days later, after traversing the state of Washington to get there, .. oh yea .. they track you!

And the nice officer was kind enough to show me the error of my ways!

Just got my new Prepass. What Paullud said is 100% right. In Maryland, if Prepass red lights you, enter the scale,IGNORE the arrows , and weigh your truck.

In MD if you have pre pass and get a red light you MUST go to the static scale. DO NOT use the by-pass lane.

Yeah that is very true. Just went through MD last week and the have a sign right before the static scale that says "All pre pass continue to static scale". I was so glad I caught that.

Actually I just ran through MD and there was a sign that said if you are directed in and have PrePass you need to proceed to the static scale no matter what the arrow says. I'll look at it again but I'm quite sure that is what it said.

There is a sign that says that. I was red lighted in and then got a by pass arrow but then noticed the sign.

I forgot to have my wife get a picture of the sign, I was pretty sure of what it said because I was going in and out of Baltimore every week.

Yeah we were just out there. That is exactly what the sign said. Which pulling into the scale isn't all that bad. However MD scales are like VA scales. Pull onto scale, stop, release breaks and wait for further instructions.
