Found out last night that a guy I met in laredo a few weeks ago was invovled in a serious accident in Kentucky on wenesday night, From what I have been told he had run into the back of a tractor trailer and his freight had come forward crushing him, He was life flighted to the hospital in critical condition. As of now (friday mourning) no word on his condition.....
So please everyone make sure your loads are secure and be safe out there.

Will be praying! The best thing a van driver can do,is strap it,block it,nail it,glue it.in place. Secure it so it becomes part of the van.don't get lazy because its a light load.the lighter the skid the faster it picks up speed.

Sorry he is paying the price...it can be a pain securing loads in a CV in a tight spot and in this heat....this driver now knows what the costs are....Hope he lives to tell about it...

Thoughts and prayers to this gentlemen. Yes we get lazy..While I always block my freight with 2x4's and or load bars...i have pretty much not strapped a load in a while...Thanks for stating the obvious Fastman....

I understand the prayers part, but I don't understand what the solicited thoughts might do.

The thoughts part are for the non religious or those who dont pray,
The gentlemans name is Jerry from hannahs and I got word today that he is awake and talking but has some surgerys to go through. But I guess at this point is it great that he is awake.

C'mon, seriously? It's a standard, accepted figure of speech. Has been for as long as I can remember. Geezz... Why even bother to say that? What does it accomplish?

Hello All!
Is this Jerry that drives a silver sprinter ? If so he use to drive for E-1 too, he is a heck of a nice guy. If not I hope the other Jerry is ok also. I am sad that people got off the subject of the driver. Please, if anyone knows this driver post if he drives a sliver sprinter.
Thanks

Well, you've kind of made my point for me. Praying can accomplish something. Merely thinking of someone cannot. So why bother to say "send thoughts?" What does it accomplish?

Huh?? I didn't help make your point even a little bit. If someone goes to visit this guy in the hospital and tells him that there are folks on EO thinking of him and sending best wishes for his recovery, that's the kind of thing that just makes a person feel better. It might even give him enough of a boost in his spirit to help his struggle to heal.

There's a question about the accident that came to mind for me, but at this point it really doesn't matter. Most of us would just hope that he overcomes his injuries and recovers. To nit pick at the wording someone chose to use in a situation like this is just a senseless waste of bandwidth.

Oh, and for the record, my thoughts and best wishes go out to the driver. I hope he recovers.

Yes Jerry drove a silver sprinter, He was a elder gentleman I think in his 60s or early 70s and was a very nice guy,and easy to talk too. I am hoping to get a update on him later today and will post it up.

AMonger you show BAD timing....this was a decent thread about a unfortunate incident..
your opinion was best kept to yourself in this thread....

sometimes just letting things pass is the best recourse...

Perhaps. It wouldn't be the first time. My apologies.

Wow, I knew Jerry, met up with him multiple times all across this great land, I will pray for him and his family and send Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery...Jerry also had a heart attack at the Dallas Flying J like 2 or 3 years ago too...I do believe...:(

Most heartfelt wishes for a speedier than expedited delivery recovery with minimal amount of speedbumps, cratchity nurses( dispatchers), helpful, understanding shippers & consignees,( doctors), and a slew of angels to deal with all the rest of the BS. god speed to you and your family
