well this van just happened to be the right price and all the details came together smoothly. i was in canada and needed to get to a particular state to see a friend who had stuff for the van. well a run came up and off to that state and off i went. i had called dispatch and said i needed to go to northern illinois or southern wisc to be home this wknd. well they called with a load due to an accident that took me to chesterton ind. then while on the way another call from mishawaka ind to schaumburg il. hey i can b'fast with the boys!!

GOD has proven to me over the last two weeks that if you draw closer to him he will provide for you.

"every blessing you pour out i will turn back to praise"-newsboys.

Yeah, God was Johnny on the Spot with that accident he provided for ya, otherwise you might never have gotten home.

Without speaking to Jack personally, I am not sure of the context of his post, from whence, a conclusion seems to have been drawn, but I do know this.....

There are several folks who have told me about accidents they kept them from boarding a plane, or a train, or a ship, or an elevator, or an amusement park ride; all of which were involved in ill fated journeys.

On the other hand, many folks have told me of accidents they haven't managed to avoid having, so your point, or conclusion, is what, exactly?

A baseball player hits a home run, rounds the bases, and as he touches Home he looks up and gives thanks. Just once I'd like to see one strike out with the bases loaded, look up and go, "What's the matter? Can't you hit a curve ball?"

It seems it most situations involving two parties one party is giving thanks and the other party is saying what went wrong.

I don't think he meant anything offensive by it, or to say it was good they got in an accident. Just that things were on his side lately that couldn't be explained by "coincidence." I don't even believe in coincidence. Too many people blame God for things that go wrong. It's not like the day you give your heart to Jesus Christ, everything goes great for you. The reasons he has for allowing bad things to happen are so complex we couldn't even begin to comprehend them. I believe he lets things happen for multitude of reasons, maybe to reach another person who you don't even know will be affected somewhere down the line, to teach you something, to bring you closer to him, to bring someone else closer to him, you just never know. It all comes down to faith, and knowing that he will provide for you and take care of you no matter what happens. I firmly believe in that. Without him, what hope do you really have in life?

I don't think anyone was offended. I certain am not.

But, if God gets the blame for everything that goes your way, he must also get the blame for everything that does not go your way. Otherwise, you have to allow for free will and coincidence.

Last week for the first time ever I talked with someone way up at my carrier, and in a very civil conversation, I complained about many things, long and semi-loud. He said he would look into a few things and call me back the next morning. He did not call the next day. Instead, first thing, I get a call from Safety because I have won the lottery in the form of my VERY FIRST EVER "random" drug test. Coincidence? :D

turtle it was not an injury accident. it may have been GODs way of telling this fella that with his several problems he told me about it is time to get off the road.

The only definite thing I've been able to figure out about God, besides His love for me, is that He is vastly more complicated than I will ever be able to figure out. Good fortune comes to some, suffering to others. Can I figure it out? No way. That doesn't mean I don't trust Him, just that I don't understand Him.

Charles,
When people try to figure him out, there is something missing from their lives. I stopped worrying about things because I know I can trust him. I don't go to church, I don't take in what others tell me I must do to be a good Christian (Catholic) and I don't buy into a lot of the pushy people want me to believe but I do practice what I feel is what it is all about, helping others who can't help themselves and taking things seriously when needed.

I first read this thread and thought to myself where could I have been if I didn't stand up for those people where I worked. I know I would have been a director by now, the reward of working for the same company with a nice 6 digit salary, but that is not what happened at all, I didn't take the golden idol like most others did, I didn't compromise myself for money so I went through hell, 2 years of really hard existence and lost almost everything doing so. I didn't want to, but I had to and looking back I still feel I did the right thing by not compromising my integrity and ethics. I knew that God would not rescue me but show me what is important, and he did. This is one reason why I don't feel that money is everything, I just pay my bills with this work and use it as a stepping stone to better things. I know that makes no sense at all but I also feel that there are a number of greedy people who need to learn these lessons that I had to learn. I don't get stressed like I did in 2003, I learned there are more important things than worrying about money and what others have. I am content to a point and that in many ways equates to happiness.

We should praise God in the good times as well as the bad. The second part is the harder of the two. Look at Job. He served God and look at what happened to him, but he continued to praise God.

I also believe that when God starts doing things in your life Satan will send someone along to try and belittle what God has done for you. Don't worry people that do things like that Jack. "One day every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess he is Lord". Let them joke while they still can.
