Power Deck for Sprinters

It's a cool system but I'm sure it's expensive and somewhat heavy. At the last Expo I saw a system of rollers that attach to the van floor and allow an individual to move freight pretty easily. The expense and weight would be far less but you'd have to be the power source rather than the van's batteries. Not a bad trade off though. I'm looking forward to hearing about the roller system going live.

Expensive?

Well at $2000, it is relative to the owner's need to have something different.

It doesn't seem to be anything new outside of the use of it and the idea of removable decking.

Geo had had rollers in his Sprinter for some time now.

Geo used some old rollers I think he found sitting unused, at a factory and he imbedded them in the floor just abit...cost was very minimum...very good way to do it....see them old rollers around a lot of yards just rusting away...

power deck WAS at expo.

there was also a company getting a feel for a dock high lift gate that brought frt down to the van level. think it was heavy and expensive.

In the video, on the right hand side of the screen, Dude's really taking his good ol' sweet time with that chain. Does it take that long for everyone (other than me)? Plus, the first pallet that he had to drag out of there should have already been at the rear of the van, anyway, or at least far enough back that half the forks could have handled it, and shouldn't have had to be dragged rearward at all.

I have never had to have a forklift operator wait on me to get the chain on the second pallet unless he's pulled the first one out and say it off to the side in preparation to stack them. The tow chain (which is a flat hook tie down strap off a flat bed truck) is always ready before the forklift driver is. Having to use a tow chain (or strap or rope) adds at most 15 seconds total to a 2-skid unload for me. And for skids under 300 pounds I'll usually already have it dragged to the rear and the tie strap off it before the forklift driver is back and ready for it, anyway.

The Power Deck is a neat system, so are rollers. All you have to do is hang out and watch 'em unload air freight to see that. But in a van it's a luxury at best. I wouldn't kick it out of bed, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it in there in the first place. For someone who can't get the hang of a tow rope or chain, or those lobster claws (which would be kewl, but until I can find one made of carbon fiber that doesn't weigh anything, I won't carry one), or someone who can't or doesn't like to crawl around in the van, sure, a Power Deck would be awesome. I can see it more for a three-skid Sprinter than for a two-skid Sprinter, which is what I have.

one of reasons i have rollers is to offload as fast as i can
and i would not be carring things i do with out rollers
as some places i del to will not pull on freight if you can't it to back they will not pull on it
it's up to you to get it to the back to off load
