I know no one wants another person to come into this field and make competition to get loads..But I am interrested in doing fleet owning.I was looking to come home and buy a couple trucks and maybe a sprinter for myself...I have talked to tri state and panther, and Prestige was the last one I talked to..Anyone know who would be better.Who has had good dealings with these guys and made good money.I would love any kind of info....Thanks

If you look back through some of the older threads, you will see some of the answers to what you're looking for. BUT, keep in mind that no matter what carrier you go with, how you plan ahead, run your business, and so much more will be what will make or break you in this business. Again, look through some of the current and older threads , gather all the information that you can, do your homework, and TAKE YOUR TIME before making any decisions. Find a carrier that fits your needs the best. Also keep in mind that we all have different tastes, needs, likes, etc....so just because one person has found a good or bad 'fit' with one carrier, it doesn't mean that you'll have the same feeling. Take your time and do your homework. Good luck!!!
BTW.........I have trucks on with tri-state and I like them just fine.

THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!!

Getting in right now you have one advantage, Bargains on equipment. That being said it might be the only advantage right now. It is real tough right now, good luck to you!

besides the costs of equipment, operating capital, 'home expenses' you have the problem of finding and keeping drivers. don't forget that they will have 'wants and needs' that need to be considered, high among them is the ability to make a reasonable wage for their labor. so even if you are willing to let your equipment sit idle for extended periods between freight offers unless you pay them to sit they probably won't.

Re: Panther,Prestige,or tristate

If you are a solo... no Panther. You won't make it. I am assuming this is a straight truck.

Prestige while small and run by nice people have little freight and the rates are real low. Had a truck on with them last year. A couple of other problems with them now that I think about it.

Express One may be a good choice.

I know Bolts rates to the trucks are not in the top 4 or 5

Hope this helps

Re: Panther,Prestige,or tristate

Almost forgot...

Nations seems to be OK.. but they only pay every 2 weeks and only $100. per load for fuel. This info from a driver.

Trans Stewart is another good small company... they did not have any advance program last year so you had to wait for 3 -4 weeks for a check, BUT they had trucks rolling.

Good Luck
