Actually, I used to wear orthopedic shoes(brown wingtips)and a leg brace when I was a child, thank you very much

As kids I had a friend with polio and he wore those. He would say, "I stand corrected. See?" and then point to his shoes. He wears tennis shoes now.

Yeah my leg brace was only on one leg and only below the knee, but looked similiar...Oh and I was a good runner when I was a kid hahaha
