Pirating

Well, I'm not sure how one would go about taking inventory of an approaching boat to find out what is on board

It's done by helicopter with a system that images appearance wise sort of like FLIR. It gives an excellent representation of the individuals as well as weapons etc. on board. It's even more apparent and absolute though when they are attempting to board ship armed with heavy firepower.

Why is it not policy that any pirates caught are immediately executed and dumped into the sea?

I believe in due process ....
Well, from your first statement above, I would say you: 1. have a misunderstanding of what the words "due process" actually mean, and how they might apply in actual situations in the real world, or 2. are knowingly misrepresenting your postion (that would otherwise be known as lying), or 3. are kidding yourself that you actually believe in it (IOW, self-delusion)

(Personally my bet is on all three)

.... how exactly do you "believe" in due process ?

.... as some sort of nebulous, esoteric, abstract concept ... that has no applicability in the real world ?

Is it something that you "believe" in ..... until you watch some show on the one-eyed monster (a very good way to allow oneself to be hypnotized) that pushes your buttons and sets off your emotions .... until you just wanna lash out "punish" the evil-doers at any cost ?

Can you even tell me - why did man develop due process - what was, and is, it's purpose ?

Unfortunately two primary groups are against common sense. 1. Lawyers, who don't want common sense as it would significantly reduce their opportunities for abuse and excess and 2. Liberals, who operate from emotions and feelings and can't mentally cope with common sense.
Many of your posts in the Soapbox are a text-book classic case of someone who lets their emotions control their thoughts ......

You really believe you are thinking ..... I believe all you are doing is ....... reacting ...... whenever some external stimuli hits somewhere within your range of perception. It is a kind of low-order thought I suppose ..... but I sure wouldn't call it analytical thought .....

The statements above, regarding common sense are actually great examples of it: I watched this _____ (fill in the blank) ... and then I had this thought _____ (fill in the blank) .....

External stimulus -----> reaction

Of course, your premise in the last item I quoted above, is an utterly simplistic view and characterization, which, in the specific (dealing with the entirety of the specific individuals who comprise either class - lawyers or liberals), can never possibly be true. As such, your statement is, in fact, a lie - and that would make you .....

Well, you get the point .....

I'm curious - would you say that John Yoo - who was the author of the Bybee memo, which laid the "legal basis" for the Bush-era use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" in the War on Terror - didn't want common sense ?

What about Jay Bybee .... or any other of the "Bush Six" ?

All of these men were lawyers.

BTW, while we're on the subject of lawyers ...... you do realize that 35 of 55 Founding Fathers - the men who founded this country - were, in fact, lawyers ?

Seems to me that they possessed quite a bit of common sense (and more importantly, a good bit of uncommon sense) .... it's unfortunate, that some of those who followed in their footsteps weren't quite as well endowed ....

Questions can always be asked later if necessary.
Who would we ask ? ... oh, wait .... nevermind ...

..... but in any case, here's one that looks like it might possibly, maybe, might have some grenades, launchers, machine guns, and likely a grappling hook or two. Looks menacing enough to me. Fire away!!!!
LOL .... yeah .... I'm pretty sure those are pirates ...... :D

Like FLIR eh ? ...... that's some pretty good stuff ..... I believe the FBI and ATF used that FLIR stuff to help slaughter 76 people (including more than 20 children, and two pregnant women) down there in Waco, TX .........

..... sounds just great !!!

I heard Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Maersk, got together and bought 350 FLIR-equipped helicopters. That way they can get a good look at the RPGs that are being fired at the helicopters, just before they're blown out of the sky.
