Pilot/J accused of rebate fraud, Millions of $

I love the first comment...

"... It seems to me that the beginning of Pilot's fall from grace began when they started charging for coffee. I'm sure a few old timers like myself remember when a man could walk into any truck stop and get a free cup of coffee not to mention a free meal. It seems Pilot has done all they can to nickel and dime the trucker for so long that this business practice is pervasive in that company. For this reason I don't buy fuel at Pilot. I will however **** on their parking lot."

It seems that PFJ was deliberately cheating "less sophisticated" customers [trucking companies] of their fuel rebates, trusting it wouldn't be noticed.
Wonder if the trucking companies will ever get reimbursed for the money, or whether the government will give the crooked corporation a slap on the wrist and a fine they can pay out of petty cash, as usual.

Mr Haslam appears to be quite a successful scumbag, indeed.

It bothers me that there is so much money in trucking that companies could become large enough to have rebates that large while being stupid ,er unsophisticated, enough not to miss it.

When I drive by some of these multi-million dollar headquarters I shake my head thinking some of their employees are working yet qualify for food stamps.

Sad statement of corporate greed.

The NFL isn't too happy either. How can they endorse such a crook. Sorry, alleged crook.

I dont just think, I know I am entitled to that shower credit..It says so in their agreement when I buy their fuel.

When you can afford to run for $1.50 a mile but charge a company $1.75, are you not acting on the exact same greed? The extra money that goes into your pocket could have been retained by the shipper and used to pay their people more. Or, you could take direct control of the extra $0.25 cents per mile and give the money away to a deserving soul, like a PFJ employee who is living at the food-stamp subsistence level. But you don't, do you? Because of greed.

People are happy to talk about other people's greed but seldom reflect on their own.

Phil, I'd say this was rude as you do not know what I do with my money.
You do not know what I contribute to charity, underprivileged children, etc.
I donated my car to an unwed mother needing transportation.
I do not have toys, a summer home, etc.
The joy of having money is giving it away. Quietly.

Rereading your post Phil, I'll make an admission that I've never told anyone.

I know a technician that works for one of the big 3 reefer outfits.
He was getting food stamps until a $20 per week raise put him over the eligibility level.
He was a student of my wife and a great guy.
Yes, many of my extra quarters do go to be sure his kids eat. I don't talk about it because it's nobodies business.

I don't care what you do with your money. That's your business.
What I do with mine is my business.
Have a great day.
