Pilot and showers

I emailed Pilot today, telling them I appreciate being able to get a shower at Flying J and TA through their expediter programs of the frequent fueler cards. One email won't change anything, though. How about everyone sending a similar message? It would be nice to expand shower locations to include all those Pilots. I'm not crazy about Pilot, but the fact that they have so many locations is convenient.

Pilot has a card.

As does Flying J, and TA for that matter, but according to the manager, they have no program for a CV expediter to earn showers through purchasing small amounts of gasoline. It's either 50 gals of diesel, or $10. I'd have to be pretty desperate for a shower to pay $10 for one when I earn one at Flying J or TA for purchasing gasoline, the way big trucks do through diesel purchases.

I can't say I have ever seen anything that would make me think Pilot cares about their customers. Why are they the most expensive fuel at each exit? Why are the same items almost always cheaper at any other truck stop chain? Why do they have the worst loyalty programs ?

We are, to Pilot, a source of cash to be exploited. Not saying the other chains really care about us either but on the surface at least it looks like they try. As the economy improves I hope someone, anyone, rises up and gives them some real competition and knocks them off their perch.

Piper, we are all exploited by all truck stop chains. I think there are a few who are fair in pricing but those seem to be individually owned and operated franchises.

The 'worst loyalty program'? I disagree. TA, for instance, requires redemption of points by printing out a voucher at the kiosk, in increments of $5.00, and any unspent portion is forfeit. No, thanks, TA.
Flying J sent me a coupon in the mail for $5.00 off, but when I wanted to use it towards the cost of a book, the clerk said it could only be used in the restaurant. Ditto for the points on my frequent fueler card - no thanks, Flying J.
Pilot, on the other hand, allows drivers to present the frequent fueler card at the register [including the fast food outlets] for immediate credit. Thanks, Pilot - that's convenient. :)

Yeah, expect now they are planning to require 75 gallons of fuel for a free shower. We seldom get that much. We have complained to a couple of Pilot managers, they don't like it either. They said that idea came down from upon high. Pilots fuel also costs us more, we get a really good discount at TA. They all suck for the most part. Some just suck at one thing and other suck at others. Most are only sorta clean at best and customer service is just not there. I would have fired MOST of the people I have run into that were working at truck stops. I would NOT allow that kind of crummy attitudes and laziness when I was a retail manager. They rank right around K-Mart when it comes to service.

If you guys (CV) have a CB why not just ask if anyone has an extra shower? Can't see paying for it when most trucks accumulate more then needed. Hubby and I usually accumulate more then we need as when moving we usually fuel 2 to 3 times a day. Then each shower can be split in two for driver and co-driver. So if fueling 2 times that is 4 showers a day accumulated. Or if you don't have a CB just knock on one of your fellow ST or TT drivers doors and ask them if they have any extra. More then likely they do. I have given showers to a driver I did not know several times. Not like it cost us anything. We get them for free.

when i first started driving for roberts express alot of the truck stop didn't think we were truck drivers and asked us to leave driver area, and other drivers said if you make him leave we will to

so you all need to tell pilot how much you spend in truck stop for meals and fuel and other stuff and if they still
don't listen , boycott them and tell your friends and numbers do talk
and only stop there if that is the last choice

I've noticed that Pilot has higher gas prices then most. Bout the only time I stop there is when its the last resort, or it has a subway (I love subway). It would be cool if they had a frequentl fueler program for us van people. As far as showers Ive seen good ones at all of em and nasty ones at all of them
I think LOS has it right, its all about the people there, and if they pride themselves in their work

Since I don't get on the CB at truck stops, I turn your suggestion around. I knock on van doors offering extra showers. Or send a pm here, if I see an EO member.

What I hate most is that truck stops won't let me make up my own rules for their free stuff. The nerve of these people. <snort>

Pilots have about the most dirty disgusting restrooms out there. I have no desire to use one of their showers.

Here's the reply I got from Pilot CS in response to my email:

Thank you for taking time to email me with your concern. I understand
where you are coming from, however they are correct. Pilot doesn't have
a program for expeditors. I take this to the facility team reguarly and
so far haven't been able to make the difference for the Expeditors. I
will keep trying.
