I believe the "Manifold destiny" referred to by Moot is the cookbook I mentioned in another thread: how to cook on the engine manifold.

oh, ok. The new yorker had/has a section calling it the same thing.

As for the cook book, I have a copy of another book that was written in the 30's and I looked at it some time ago and remember that it was rather thorough in it's description of what can be made with what car. I think the book you are talking about is out of print.

i got one of them lil stove thingies........
i LOVE it.
have gotten very creative with it .. lol

a small pot roast... throw in some baby carotts.. tiny red skin taters..and a lil garlic.. sea salt.. cracked pepper.... and u have a awsome dinner.
i put very very lil water in it..... when i do this.. it makes its own juice.;)

I haven't done this in the Burton stove, (am wondering whatever happened to mine?) but an excellent dinner is a chunk of beef, Lipton dry onion soup mix, and a can of cream of mushroom soup, no water added. Cooked slow, it's a lovely roast with gravy - yummy! You can add mushrooms, too, for really mushroom gravy. It goes well with mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, noodles, or rice, whatever you have.
BTW: if you can stop at a Marc's store, (in Ohio, truck parking ok), they have the foil inserts at a way lower price than WalMart.
