Philly Freight & Good Shippers, Brokers, Carriers

Hi

I am new to this forum and expedited freight. However I have been a class 8 trucker for almost 10 years.

I now have my van & dot/mc#. I am running couier loads while looking for expedited freight sources. Are there any brokers/ shippers or carriers that trip lease 1 ton van freight. Can you recommend based on past experience. Especially with Philly freight. I am reluctant to sign on with a carrier. Being told to stay out 3 weeks is not my idea of being independent. I have business interest in Philly, some apartments where I would like to run philly out and back. Out a couple days then back. There also would be no need to get my own #.

thing that i would do is go out to cargo area of airport and check
with different companies out at the airport , and see if they need any help in delivering there freight, as they may have run out of trucks

I HAD A QUESTION ON HOW YOU WENT ABOUT GETTING YOUR DOT/MC#.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO DO IT PROPERLY. COULD YOU TELL ME HOW OR POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
