Phil decided to go to Landstar, they seem like a better outfit from what I have seen and heard from drivers. I know a few people that run their brokered loads because they pay very well.

Oh God here we go.

Hope it works for him but ...

Better fit for who?

I think he has 14 feet or 12 feet of floor space, which is too small for the Star which means he will be sitting there while agents will load vans .... and they don't run a lot of reefer stuff, I know that for a solid fact.

He seems like an intelligent business man even though it seems people question what he does, I guess you can't argue with success and happiness.

As a team, with WG experience, he may be able to move directly into AA&E .. they do have some might good rates in that division.

Even in Sprinter vans .... I would love to do it myself, but I do not run team ...

We haul quite a bit of their stuff and yes, it is decent rates when we do. Phil should do ok once some of the agents know him. Should be the same or better money without all the game playing and goofiness.

Well I would agree but it can be a case where success may not follow where it is expected to follow. This is a different world and having a small truck with the idea of capturing freight that simply doesn't come about as many think is not a plan for success.

You would have a better feel for that since you are there. I am basing my thinking on some that are there (granted with larger trucks) and the loads I broker from them.

I forgot about A&E but how much of it is allowed on a reefer unit?

I was told much of it has to be in a dry box and I have met a couple teams who are only doing this in sprinters/cutaways because they can.

Yep, I have a really good idea what it takes, and it isn't as easy with a small truck. Everyone told me two things when I looked at LS, one is how much weight I can carry and how much floor space I have all matters a lot more than how much chrome on the truck. I went into this with the problems already facing me in FedEx - I compete with vans.

It may work for him but on the other hand it may be a big struggle. He may end up with customers who will only load him with a forklift and that will be a big issue with agents who take care of the customer first.

Why go to a place where your truck is not going to move T-val loads. Panther does a lot of T-val and CDC loads. My step Dad said he sent Phil a e-mail with what two of his dry box truck are doing at Panther and never heard a word back from Phil. Is Phil a guy that thinks he is better than other? I don't know because I have never met the guy. I seen the post he made to Brisco, which I though was rude. The only one I have ever met is Lawrence and Mr. and Mrs. Caffee at the Fedex home office in Green.

That was the year that Mrs. Caffee beat all of us guys in the truck Rodeo. Have fun Phil and good luck at Landstar. Phil you should try to be nicer to folks on here or free willie more so your in a better mood sir.

Mark, it would make sense that he would go to a company that would use his truck the way it is equipped but it is Phil.

Then why was his contract terminated?

They may not be sure what he will do, they could be concerned he will start showing up late and I am sure writing about it and telling others he is looking elsewhere played a roll. At a previous job I had once they knew you were leaving they walked you out so you didn't have a chance to steal or screw things up.

Maybe they just wanted to do it because they knew Phil and Diana was leaving anyway. Fedex don't like when someone leaves them, they want to be the one to term someone. Phil didn't say anything bad about Fedex or do anything as far I know.

If you ask me it makes Fedex look bad for doing that knowing that he maybe was leaving.
