Can anyone tell me what kind of rates have you been getting. Companies are not wanting to pay nothing. Is this happening to everyone or is it the company in which i am working??!! I drive a straight truck.

Tired of sitting around!

What do you consider "nothing"? There is prolly a wide range of personal deffinitions for nothing. Also, there is a wide range of capabilitys within the "straight truck" category, some can't do too much others can move semi freight. What is nothing??

It would also help it you define what your drive? Van, TT, ST.
Are you a OO or do you drive for someone else. This is just a start. Then you need to look at your MPG and length of runs over a period of time. You can get a great rate but sit on your butt most of the time and can't cover expenses

he said he drives a straight truck, dosent mention solo or team, but as far as rates, that wouldnt matter, just length of haul.Any way,do to falling fuel prices, rates have dropped do to fuel surcharges are now lower, and do to slow economy, number of loads are less also, dont need to expedite, when there isnt a need for the freight.

but as far as rates,...,rates have ...,and do to slow economy,.

very interesting observation ,,,,nightbuy...
think it have more to do with the number of trucks out there,
it will even up as time go by ,
do you feal the rates go down do to the economy slow down ,?
in my nitch , i see rates stay just about the same as it was 3 months ago...

My rate dropped .15 due to fuel going down. Time will tell if the NLM junkies will move over, and force us to drop further. LTLs are rarely worth looking at anymore. The NE is trying to push truckload at .80/mi.

Well i see i needed to add more info here! I am an owner operator of a 22ft box truck under 26. The company i work for out of MI deals mainly with NLM. Lot of loads come along but bid it and cant even get it for a 1.00 a mile with FSC. Should i look elsewhere or hang out awhile with the company.

what i was trying (and obviously failed) to say ,is that in my case ,after fuel expenses , i still have the same amount of $ (or shell i say C.)per loaded mil. left over.
the low fuel prices allowed my competition to D.H more , there for it seems like there is less freight for more truck,
and yes , more loads offer are not getting the bid anymore.
