Sorry about that.
I took the above quote and thought you were driving fulltime as well.
That would be a tough game with several trucks.

It is sad to hear of drivers getting the bad end of a situation with owners, but it is really bad when owners get the bad end. For them there is always a greater cash loss, than for a driver, due to equiptment downtime, hiring and training new people, ect.

Each company that leases on trucks should:
1. Do a thorough background check on all owners, and their drivers.
2. Do a financial background check on owners to see if they are financially sound.
3. Have a shop they are contracted to, inspect all equiptment before leasing it on. My truck was given the ok by a shop the owner had to check out his trucks, but the trk had no rt turn signals, brakes needed adjustment, radiator leaked, and the steering was out of adjustment.
4. Contracts should state what both sides are responsible for, contracts should be approved by carrier, and signed by all concerned, and a copy to all parties.
5. Equiptment should be photographed by owner and carrier, and when it is returned by driver, it should be inspected before driver leaves, driver then signs off, a copy sent to owner, if everything is okay, driver get's paid for work performed.

Good owners, and good drivers need to be protected from bad owners, and bad drivers, America depends on us for safe, on time deliveries of it consumable goods.

I agree with you, good owners and good drivers need to have a way to find one another, so we can all truck, make money, and take care of our families.

Your advice to have both parties sign off on the condition of the truck as determined by an impartial third party is important and would resolve a lot of owner - driver disputes. I trust that all of the owners and the drivers considering expediting heed your advice.

Your para 4. comment:

"4. Contracts should state what both sides are responsible for, contracts should be approved by carrier, and signed by all concerned, and a copy to all parties."

You are suggesting that the carriers get involved with the manner in which an independent owner operates his/her business. I am confident that none of the large, if any, carriers would endorse the idea of approving or commenting on an owner/driver contract. Their concern is that the owner and his agents comply with all of the elements of the carrier/owner lease agreement. The fine line between employee and independent contractor would be further blurred by such an involvement.

Thats why we got out of the truck we was in. Well I did go to court to try and recover my money she owed us it did;t take long to get I won judgement against her. I was hoping she wouldn,t pay It so I could take her truck . Well she did I never got to look at panther 11 pay sheet untill that day. Not only was she cheating us they was two whatever they put on the qualcom they did not pay. So theres two bad apples. I believe thats why panther dont want to discuss the pay with you they take there share as well. and she wouldn't let you see the settlement sheet from panther 11 oodia knows all about panther and the way thay pay , give it some time and I believe a lawsuit will follow against them as well. Everything I'm saying is in the court system and public record. You can file your own complaint's in court and take it to court yourself It will cost them not you. Good luck
