I don't mean to be a smart a** but I have a serious question for you all that I am passing on.

To preface the question, I sent over the entire thread to someone who is gay (big activist and we get into rather heated arguments over this and other issues) and asked her what she thought about it. I won't post her entire response, it is too long but she wonders what is the offense part of the original post to the people who are posting, "seeing there are only 6 people including you and I know your position".

So her question is, is it the subject of the post, is it the actual content of the post or is it the person who posted it that is offensive and why?

This are giddy as they build post upon post (and insult upon insult).
They develop their "theme" beyond just this thread
and begin to "validate" their mindset by warping the
meaning of words and topics in other threads.

Well, the gang here at E/O has certainly proven that point.!!!

I can understand why some have expressed concern about beginning a
thread like this one here on E/O. Look at the behavior that
has been unleashed !!!! Quite alarming and very disappointing.

I thought that the membership here at E/O could discuss this
in a mature and thoughtful way. Sadly, that has not been the case.
It's the mean and vindictive responses that
"bring EO down to the dirt level that other sites have."

The topic of this thread was about sin,
the consequences of sin, and GOD's Plan of Salvation.
Hate the sin but do not hate the sinner.
To the sinner, proclaim the Love,
Mercy and Grace available through JESUS CHRIST.

The topic of this thread was about Bad news and GOOD NEWS...
The LORD (the Triune GOD in Heaven)
tells us in HIS Word that the Truth is...
there is very bad news and Wonderfully Good News.
Very Bad News...
ALL humans have sinned and fallen from fellowship with HIM
which will last FOREVER (Eternity)
UNLESS... (now the Wonderfully Good News)
A human can choose HIS Plan of Redemption ...
Submitting their life to, becoming a follower of,
in a personal relationship that will last FOREVER,
the Creator/KING/Redeemer .. JESUS CHRIST
A Personal Relationship ... NOT A RELIGION
( a religion is "man-made"...
maybe based on the Word of GOD, maybe not..)
And that good new is Good News, indeed..!!!

The topic of your post was not about sin in general, it was about homosexuality, in particular, being a sin in the view of the author. Indeed, every one of the 14 paragraphs refered to homosexuality in a negative manner.

You say you posted the article to promote discussion, yet you refuse to discuss the topic of your post, homosexuality. If you reread my response to your thread, I not only thanked you for the post but asked you to discuss its affect on your life. You chose to brush me off without response. Now you criticize other members for their comments, albeit negative comments, when it was you who established the agenda; negativity toward the Gay and Lesbian community.

I provided a follow-on post reminding the forum that not all Judeo-Christian sects hold homosexuality as sinful, some infact, endorse, embrace and welcome people you would call sinners into their fold. For the record, you may include me in the latter group.

Now, talk among yourselves.

I would agree with Terry in that you brought this up. I again reiterate that you are talking with a very narrow opinion that isn't shared by the majority. I don't believe it affects EO in any way just because members aren't adopting your particular beliefs.

If these are your beliefs that is fine, but as I mentioned, these rewrites of specific scripture are by design to promote and profit from his writings. Who is to say he may be a false prophet? He is profiting from it is he not? Your chosen author is very controversial.

I don't believe there is any sin at work at all. It has been proven scientifically that issues of orientation are hardwired at birth. That has nothing to do with chose. If you want to take it further, how would you or your author address hermaphrodites (people of both sexes)? They are estimated at 54,000 in just the US according to Wikipedia. Are we to assume that this was done as a cruel joke by God? I don't think so. Gee, how do they decide?
I really think you need to open your horizons past the teachings of one individual. If you then come back with the same opinion, then it is YOUR opinion.
It still begs the question of why you would post this here? You seem to be ignoring that question. The gay/lesbian community is where you should be addressing this.

2. I said ALL.. thus I didn't proclaim that ANYONE was being singled out.

I chose this article because sometimes Christians
and others will attack the persons committing this specific sin instead of following how GOD would have us act...

Hate the sin but do not hate the sinner.
To the sinner,
proclaim the Love, Mercy and Grace received through JESUS CHRIST.

I didn't think you would address my question with regards to orientation. You are of the believe that it is a sin. I don't believe it is. Again, how would you address people that are intersexed.
You can't.
If it is a sin for one group, then it would be for others according to your author. I don't buy into your beliefs. Simple as that.
I don't however try to promote my believes through a web site where it isn't relavant to anything.
I don't think anyone with certainty knows what God thinks. You only know what history that was written by man has told you to think. Thats the reason for many different religions and beliefs that Terry eluded.

And as far as the mods attacking you, you'd better take a good look in the mirror as to who the antagonist is. This lively discussion reminds me of a student I had in an earlier life. He was a religious and political nut case. He openly discussed homosexuals. Actually his words were something like "G D Queers." He actually claimed that ALL gays were child molesters. I finally had to strongly suggest he keep his opinions to himself.
