look at that I just doubled the number of my post just by typing useless info I will be a regular member before you know it.

my point is dont judge a book by its cover and just because someone has 2,000 post dont make one of them worth reading.this man was asking for advise from a other tractor drivers about panther.I have been down that road and I have had 3 different tractors on with panther and other expedite companies and if you want me to be blunt about it I dont see how a cargo van driver has any input on the subject.not saying there is anything wrong with cargo vans I started that way myself but it is a whole new ball game in the big rigs and once you learn how to deck a trailer and do light weight ltl you to will wonder why you even looked at expedite to begin with.

Fer git it eot, it will never sink in out there. Tis a funny thing these "Expediters". Regardless of that, Dream Team would be well advised that about any organization worth their salt, can keep the pockets jingling, without having to run 6k a week, but, many outfits have way too many agendas for that to happen. But myself, i'd never be locked into strictly "expedite" organizations again.

Nah, not yet. Ya gotta whine about it being too slow, too far, too cold, too hot or sumpin before you get to be a real member. Even better yet, whine about someone not giving you an advance for something you have not done yet. Then, maybe. But what do I know, not sure what the criterion is.

You can do well with teams at Panther. You must write down everything dispatchers say they will pay you and make sure they send it over the QC or you WILL have pay issues. Their settlement department and dispatch has to be kept in check or they will mess up your pay because they are so large and process so much at one time. They also let you broker your own loads which is a good thing! Overall you can make some money with them as a team, but you have to micro manage them to insure your are paid everything, just like any other company.

It is pretty easy to detect who of you is giving us real and sincere information and those of you blowing hot air into a 44mph south wind..... then there are a few of you who don't have obvious experience regarding what we are asking about, or seems that your experience was bad for you for reasons you might have created, or maybe Panther does do things in that way? but here you can vent and possibly influence us negatively as to allow us not to be successful at an expediter like Panther as maybe your objective to get back at them for your bad experiences.
Look those of you that don't believe we could expedite, well if we choose to expedite I will only say that before we dive in, we will have done enough research in order to committ, if we committ we will be successful as we usually have been in our endeavors....we live on the road, we live in our truck, we do not have huge outstanding debt and/or monthly payments that would not allow us the opportunity to sit when freight is slow, every weekend not a problem, longer not a problem....We are good at what we do, we are good living out on the open road, we have a truck setup with a home like enviornment with comforts to the maximum...ALL we really seek is to work for an organized, fair dealing company, we do expect to get paid for the good work we do, we do not want to be bill collectors going after the company we work for because they are unorganized or decietful....we are just researching in hopes we will come to a conclusion within a week to 10 days from now if there is a new carrier for us to lease with....If we do not feel comfortable at that time we will go back to our current 6K a week @ 86 cents a mile + FSC dedicated run for another 8-10 weeks while we continue our research trying to find who we will work for, WITH MORE TIME TO DETERMINE if it be expedited or not, at some point in the future we will make a thought out well processed decision that will benefit the future well being of us and our equipment....We are hellbent on running for better pay, in an effort to not run us or our truck out of business! Thanks to you all that are giving us constructive and real information, whether it be good or bad news ......we appreciate your taking time to respond....

Yeah call FedEx Custom Critical. They will hire you if you aren't a criminal. They also
have loads that pay great compared to .86 per mile. Sometimes loads pay $2.00 or more per mile.. We hauled the 53' trailer for FedEx and our best paying load was $4500.00 more or less. So yes, you can make a living working for Fed Ex. Just because there is doom and gloom on here ..the tractor trailer is a whole different animal than the straight truck. We hauled a load to the Walmart distribution center ...loaded with canned food and got paid over $2.00 per mile. Check them out. It may
be a good fit for you. At least you won't have to drive 6K a week.

Yes, we are looking at all options and comparing pros and cons on each....very intricate details to sort out, so many opinions to filter through is making this process difficult for us. By the By:

We're in our sixth year with Fed Ex in a straight truck so I cannot advise you concerning a tractor trailer. I CAN however, vouch for their on time payment without the confusion and reminders that have been described in some of the above posts.

As a O/O or fleet owner in trucking leased to an expedite company, pay issues are common. It's not that the companies are trying to screw you, there are so many people involved in one load, from the dispatcher the customer to the payroll department, sometimes little things are missed. So many things can happen on a load and a payroll person has to look at so many things like payroll notes, billing notes, dispatcher notes in the computer along with calculating extras like detention charges and layover etc., then billing the customer for those charges....sometimes things are missed.

As an O/O you are a business owner! If you owned a resturant, or a car wash or anything you must be dillagent and go over the numbers, invoices, and reciepts and make sure your getting paid what you are owed, and paying out not more then you should. If you have this mantality you will be fine.

I did OK with Panther, some people like Fed X and Landstar. Call them and talk to them, I'm sure they are all decent or they would not have thousands of trucks leased on. It's up to you to see what's a better fit.
