Panther Fuel Surcharges

A large automotive supplier was expediting loads left and right about 5 years ago. They could not pay the bill so they went into receivership. The automotive company who they were suppling parts for paid their bill to the expedite company but at their discounted rate. Half the fleet was paid mileage and wasn't affected by this but the other half was paid % and the carrier deducted the difference from their settlements.

You know I can see a detention time not being paid, but the FSC is discussed before hand and is part of the rate.

If the federal legislation would have passed, the fuel surcharge would be part of the rate.
Currently it is not. That is why it is provided as a seperate number within a load offer.
Even brokers will give you both numbers when bidding on loads. Flat rate loads or LTL are just that. Flat rate with no fuel surcharge at all.
