Panther Drivers

Just wanted to know if alot of Panther drivers stop by the home office. My family has been in the trucking and truck repair business for over 80 years and was thinking of building a shop or renting one. We live in Seville, Ohio and I'm sick of seeing the TA charge way to much on small repairs to drivers. I guess what I'm saying is, if their was a shop in the Seville area that you could stop by get you oil changed and take a shower. Would you try it out. I guess it just don't have to be just Panther O/O it can be everyone.

Let me know what you think.

If I were in the area..sure why not! Sounds like a plan.

How about an open bay where guys could work on thier truck while away from home...like Rent-A-bay???

Was thinking about that too. But it could be an insurace problem. Their is a place in Seville that may work for this idea, but the owner need to clean the lot up some. Looks like Sanford and son. Could even make it a small Expediters truck stop if it was cleaned up. But still would have to go to the TA for fuel.

Rent-A-Bay was a fade a few years ago...most have died off...I suppose you'd have to have some liability insurance but thats normal antways...lot of guys like to do thier own oil and replace lights and whatever...be nice indoors....especially in winter!

When I was in the Marines we had a deal like that on base that was ran by the Marine Corps Community Organization. I think that is what you call it. They had all kinds of tools. They even had a couple of long term use bays. One Sarge of ours rebuilt the engine in his Pontiac GTO in one. Of course this was a non profit deal which is different than what you are talking about on the Rent-A-Bay.

I think if you could go in somewhere with something different people would respond well. If I were still driving I would drop in.

In the Air Force they were called auto hobby shops. They were a big help overseas. Getting someone to work on American was hard. I did a lot of work on my cars in them. That was when you could still work on them without all computers and such Jerry Lee

when i drove for an owner out in ind he was building a garage/sleeping area for his drivers
you could get an oil change and shower and had a bed and he was thinking of expanding to other cargo van drivers who werent on with him

Think shore power. Include an RV dump station and people will literally give you crap.

Well, now isn't that an attractive inducement? Why go to the expense, when he can get that here, for free?
Dave, I spend some time in the Seville area, having family nearby, and would like to see such a place - if you allow non Panther trucks, that is.:p

Why would we only just let Panther drivers, it would be for everyone. We have our trucks leased on to FedEx Custom Critical. I guess you could say it would be a place for Expediters.
