Pallet jacks

Check at forklift supply houses they often sell the better pallet jacks like Crown, BT lift, and Raymond. You can usually find a good working higher line jack taken in as a trade in for about 100 bucks. New 500 bucks to start. The higher line are better because you can keep them lubed, find parts, and adjust the forks when they start to drift.
Granger's Dayton, are also usually good units.
I have a crown that was at least 10 years old when I bought it I have owned it for seven, and it has lived in the back of the truck since I bought it.
What ever you buy make sure the fork alignment can be adjusted and there are grease fittings and the fluid can be topped off and changed.
Minimum lift capacity should be 5000 lbs.

Wider is better, they're more stable. Nylon wheels are usually tougher and last longer than ploy carbonate but can be A little noisy on concrete but not a deal killer. You won't notice the difference unless you run it across diamond plate all day long but nylon will last longer. Rapid lift is not a huge advantage, unless your unloading a full 53 foot trailer every hour. A couple few skids here and there not worth the extra dough. You want a jack that has a pump with at least a 1-1/4 inch piston, the bigger the piston the longer the pump will last.

I've had one from both, and still use the HF one in my backyard. They're both decent for the money.
A great source I found for electric and manual pallet jacks is Premier Handling Solutions. The sales staff is tremendous and the have very good pricing. I think they reside in Elgin, IL. You can find Premier pallet jacks here. We purchased manual version with 6600 lb capacity has been very reliable, and sturdy chassis.
