I find it extremely funny and pompous that someone would choose a title in front of their name that suggests that they had some formal training and a degree when in fact they have had none.

Hey formal training is not needed to make food or use the title.

I can buy a restaurant, call myself Chef de cuisine and it would actually be proper. No training, no degree, but I own the place and am a professional nevertheless.

Now I don't think I would have a lot of customers, mainly because it would be like that sushi place out in LA. I come in, make one dish and then leave after everyone left.
