We are sitting down here in Laredo, and came back to the Pilot after some Walmarting. There are four vans sitting there one was a PII Aerocell looked pretty good. But what the you know what was sitting beside him, yes another van from PII, but the guy had a roof mount and had two objects strapped to the thing. Yes a mountain bike. but the second thing made me about mess my pants...... a dang kayak.

Nice thing about those vans. You can carry your toys on top and still pass easily under bridges.

Good Grief Jim we are sitting at the pilot also and cannot believe that panther van. It is Monday now and sure hope to get out of here the heat is awful. If you are still here let us know we are parked up on the hill as far away from those railroad tracks as you can get. Only FedEx up here.

I have seen that van before and I applaud the guy, at least he is trying to make the best of his down time to keep from being bored out of his mind. I carry my fishing poles and tackle bowes with me and had a licence in 5 states 4 need to be renewed. Soon as I can find a small enough and light enough canoe it'll be on top of my van.

If my worms don't catch fish they'll die trying!!!

Are you folks aware of the new "white water center" that will soon be opening just outside Charlotte? It is all man-made and will go all the way up to "class 5" rapids. Also, it will be the traing center for the Olympic team.

I'm surprised no one is raising cane about the guy carrying the kayak. I never have time for that type of stuff. Or at least the way my luck runs as soon as i'd get started on smething like that i'd get offered a load.

I will say this about the van it sure didnt look very professional. I think all that stuff would be great but we are all still a representative of our respective companies.

Maybe, on the other hand, it looks like the driver is determined to get the freight delivered, even if it takes a kayak to do it, lol ;)

Hey Ark! Maybe this is the way that that guy knows to stay busy. He just takes down the kayak if it's slow, and BAM!, the QC goes off. Hahah!!

I'm sure if a driver told a dispatcher hey I'm gonna go kayak while you ride that desk, and I'm gonna have a great time they would find a load quick. just to ruin the driver's god time.

Hahaha! You bet they would. It's kind of like that cartoon on here where the guy is finally sitting down and eating a meal out of the truck when the Quall goes off. Hurry hurry!

It seems the people reporting from Laredo are at the Pilot there. Has anyone checked out the Flying J across the freeway? Last time we were there, the J was soon to open. Next time we're there, and if we have reason to stay in the area, we'd happily choose the brand new Flying J over that overrun Pilot.

TeamCaffee just told me it's not open yet - everything looks ready, but no go. When I was there a few weeks ago, they were doing the final hiring, so maybe the delay has to do with that - can't get enough English speaking applicants, maybe?

I emailed Flying J a couple of weeks ago to ask the status of the new J in Laredo and this is the response I received:

"Regarding your inquiry about the Flying J plaza opening in Laredo. TX , our
Property Development Group has advised us that, "The developer has not
satisfied the city demands to record the adjacent plat that has the water
lines to our property running through it." The shelves are stocked and
staff has been hired and trained but the opening date is still tentative.
Please check our website for updates.

>I give the driver a lot of credit.I keep my bike and roller blades with me .I use them practically every day.I drive but am also in excellent health. There's a reason for that. So many drivers complain and complain about boredom .Get up and do something. You'll feel 100 times better !!
