More information needs to come out to make a accurate determination of the incident. Alcohol doesn't take long to enter the bloodstream so the short flight could be inconsequential. It was suspected that he was served alcohol on the plane. How much? One is too many since he is underage. What was his alcohol level when he was arrested? Determining factors of someone's intoxication is mainly the amount of alcohol consumed. Other factors include the size of the individual, and the propensity of somone to consume alcohol in the past. One explanation of what happened could be the kid is afraid to fly, he doesn't normally drink alcohol,he decides to drink to get through the flight. He is served possibly only one or two drinks and this is enough to make him extremely intoxicated. Again not condoning it, just offering an explanation. I could be totally wrong and the kid could have a serious drinking problem and needs help.

One Dramamine and one drink will be about the same as drinking several shots. It usually just makes people very, very drowsy, but in plenty of people it intensifies the effects of alcohol.

He was charged with three misdemeanor offenses: disorderly conduct at an airport, being intoxicated and disruptive, and consuming beer and wine underage.

"Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this," according to the statement released late Sunday by Moira Bagley, Paul's communications director.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and if it was Dramamine or something of that nature, I'd think the public statement would have already come out identifying it. So I think it is what it is, a 19-year old who made a mistake, even if it was to calm his nerves while flying (which I also think it probably was).

And it is none of our business.

It IS, however, our business to know if our elected officials are on illegal drug or drunk while working. That INCLUDES Obama.

This story is a non-issue.

There are many valuable lessons to be learned from incidents like this one. It's in the news and being discussed. This story will spur some parents to talk with their children about substance abuse and its consequences. Sadly, young Mr. Paul now has a criminal record which will haunt him from this day forward.

Yes, we could learn from it, but we won't. Young Mr. Paul likely ASKED for his record, hard to feel sorry for those who do. Besides, one can to all sorts of illegal stuff and get elected president, Obama did. OH YEAH! Obama is a Demoncrat, not a Rumbumlican.

Other than the possible lessons, it ain't any of our business. The majority of parents who care already know this. Those who don't care, still won't. It's just a story to fill part of an unneeded 24 hour news cycle.
