in oyr unregulated field of CV's....you'll have a driver that has been unemployed for a time...cupboards are bare and kids need new shoes....that $1,000 to Laredo over a 1700 mile drive is a HUGE paycheck for that driver especially for less then 2 days work...
IMO this is fools gold logic....
Just think how much better things would be if that paycheck was $1,400 - $1,600.
Last time I was down on the border, in Nov, I got a 2,000 mi run - 2 pallets - 1,500 lbs for .95 per mi ...
The only difference between my experience & the example stated above is .... I asked for more!
