Make good bear bait too. Just hang where the bear can't reach. No need to "process" them then! LOL!! Lots of mink around where we live. Too many if you ask some people.

In Iowa can t use exposed bait. .....eagles & hawks are attracted. ....No bears here. ....lol. ...Mink are not over populated but are around .......raccoons everywhere

No laws like that in MI that I know of. Coons everywhere in MI too. We are not TOO bothered by them, never had any in our trash cans yet. Lots of coyotes so I guess that helps keep the coon numbers down. No bears in our part of the state. They are up north. We see mink running around in town from time to time. They live around the river. Marches are full of them, muskrats too. I used to trap rats at one time, MANY moons ago.

This November will be my 48 th. year of trapping. ....in the blood you could say. ...raccoons actually have no natural preditor ....disease is the main threat to them. ....mother nature thins them down with distemper. ...people see a raccoon wobling around during day and they think Rabies ....but its distemper ...you ll find them dead close to a water source. ......Skunks are rabies carriers. ..if you see one during the day ....destroy it cause very good chance of rabies. ..coyotes attack foxes, deer, rabbits, Cats and Dogs, , they love when the urban folk put out their pets late at night ...easy supper. ...

Killed a few coons during the day. Don't know if they were sick or not but took no chance. Have only ever seen one skunk in the day time. Did not shoot it, prime deer time. Did see a bobcat in daylight a couple of years ago, just outside of town. Had a rabbit in it's mouth. Wish I had a good camera that day. First bobcat I had seen in the area in almost 50 years. Good to see them back.

The coyotes are getting thick in MI. Far fewer people trapping these days. Too many out there with "Bambi Syndrome". They really believe that coyotes only chase roadrunners and lose.

It's bad enough so many are not pulling their weight these days but then they have to get in the way of those who are!

If the coyotes get to thick ...mother nature hits em with Mange. ...terrible disease some yotes make it year before dying....fur just falls off it clumps...bad thing is dogs can catch it from just very little contact of an infected animal ....

Yeah, it has yet to come to that here. IF I ever get my Rock River Arms rifle I will be trying to help in reducing the numbers. Only problem is you can't use a center fire rifle for anything in Michigan after dark so I will be confined to daylight hunting.

My buddy has one. Has some of those wounded rabbit things too. We have had several come by under the deer stands. Once I get my 5.56MM I will be ready for them. Took a crack at one once with a slug gun, that did not turn out too well!! LOL!! Kinda missed. Put him into over drive though! :D

Since he has the caller ..you need the remote spinning rabbit. ... use 1 12 ga. with 0 0 buckshot. ....1 hi power rifle. ...remember yotes do pack hunt so 3 or 4 can come at once

He has the remote rabbit.

Just the 5.56mm for them. We are hunting out of his deer stands, which are nicer than many condominiums. 20' high with barber chairs inside. They will have NO idea we are up there.

I think I am going to be shooting 62 grain bullets, poly tipped hollow points. I won't know for sure until I sight it in and see what it likes. Since I don't have it yet, it's tough to do. Only ordered it in Aug 2012.

This is the one I ordered:

Rock River Arms: products/puath.gif

Rock River Arms: ATH Carbine

Going to have a friend custom load with this bullet.

And that is the Minnow from Gilligans Island, Mr shoot down ducks breath. Geezzzz, you led a sheltered childhood. :p

Yes, I know. I used to watch it when I was a kid, BEFORE it was in reruns. It was almost too silly for me then, NOW, it is beyond stupid.

Duck hunting is done OUTSIDE, with FRIENDS, in REAL life. Much better than absolutely stupid reruns no matter what the show. DOING is MUCH better than WATCHING! It MAY be YOU that is leading a sheltered life! LOL!!

That is even WORSE!! I think I was like 6 or 7 when I quit watching them! Besides, I was shooting by then. DOING is better than WATCHING!

There is another thread about doing valocipeed or other things to sharpen the brain. Getting outside and DOING stuff will do that AND improve your health. TV is the Great Brain Sucker!
