This is the line-up so far. I'll get the Buffalo Chip and Full Throttle saloons line up soon.
Anyone interested I have campsites about 2 hours from Sturgis at reasonable rates compared to what ya pay near Sturgis or Rapid City.
With 30 years of music under their belts, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are coming to Sturgis this summer to give fans a taste of the Petty sound.

And they are doing it at the new 34-acre amphitheater at Glencoe Camp Resort during the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally.

The new Rock'n The Rally music festival kicks off this year on Sunday, Aug. 6, and runs through Thursday, Aug. 10.

The Festival's music lineup features:

n Aug. 6 — Big & Rich, Cowboy Troy, Keith Urban, Shooter Jennings, Cross Canadian Ragweed.

n Aug. 7 — Steve Miller Band, Cheap Trick, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Gregg Rolie

n Aug. 8 — Nickelback, Black Crowes, Live, Gin Blossoms

n Aug. 9 — Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Joe Cocker, Foghat and Georgia Satellites

n Aug. 10 — Sammy Hagar and the Wabos, REO Speedwagon, John Kay and Steppenwolf and .38 Special.

Tickets for the shows range in price from $50 to $70. Go to www.starticketsplus.com.

Well first of all we survived! It was awesome. However, it needs to be a planned trip, try planning this year for next year. We tried to rent a car with no luck. Manay of the townfolk rent their yards out for tent camping and RV parking but they all have a problem with trucks, even though some of those RV's a just as big and weigh just as much. Sturgis is a "No Thru Truck" town but we lucked out and right off of I-90 at exit 32 we found a grain elevator that let us park. We hoofed it about a mile downtown. It was something to see literally thousands of motorcycles parked and crusing the streets. Other than that I was not impressed with the Main Street attractions.

I was interesting how the town suports the vent. Evry church had "free" breakfast (you know what free means there) There was parking in yards and tents in yards and rooms for rent. Price gouging was at its utmost.

But, if you have a bike (oh, by the way they rent those too, you must have a Class M) you can take to the roads and see the country. Several camps are set up with events. You can drive down the interstate and see bikes so far away they look like ants.

But most suprising of all.....get this.....we got a run out of Rapid City SD to York Pa to the Harley DAvidson plant of all places.

Fastman,

My sister and her husband went to Myrtle Beach a couple of years ago and they had a blast. They told us we should go when we get the chance. They were not that impressed with Laconia though.

Next year we are planning on going to the rally that the Vietnam Vet's hold each August in PA, then to Wildwood NJ in Sept, my brother in law said he had a great time there.

Whatever you do, DO NOT waste your time going to the Mad River Valley Rally in Warren VT. We went there this year and were very disappointed!! Beautiful country for riding, if you could dodge the rain!

Hopefully we will get to Sturgis in 2009. We have the bike, just need to make the plans.

I'll still go to Myrtle Beach but in a few years it too will be ran by greed.and when I do Laconia I never make into Lacaonia but hit the Outskirts where greed hasn't made it yet

Sounds like a cool trip and it would even be $100 less expensive for me (or I'd have another $100 of tshirts and other junk when I left). That is definitely a lucky draw run.

Thanks for the compliments on the bike. We try to get out on it whenever we are home and the weather is agreeable.

I am going to try and add some close-up shots.

Fastman, nice ride. Just be safe out there when you get a chance to ride.
