I agree. And armed security who haven't been drinking and have proper training is probably a much safer solution.
On that subject, anyone who carries or owns a firearm should have regular and comprehensive training as part of that responsibility. So many preventable deaths due to shootings, the easiest solution to me would be for people to responsibly exercise their rights, restricting guns is not a workable solution...I could drive 20 minutes and buy a 9mm here in Canada no paperwork or government involved, so much for gun control...I also believe many crimes would never be attempted if there was a certainty that someone in the public would put a quick stop to it
Omar Mateen was an armed security guard with proper training. I don't believe it has been made public whether he was drinking or not the night of his murderous rampage.
Too bad Omar wasn't employed by the club and on duty that night. He could have shot the attacker before he killed any innocent club goers. 1 dead and the world would be a better place.
Good for them as in good for the liberals agenda. Good for their cause. Good for Obama to spend his last months working on his gun control agenda. It isn't good for anyone, but that won't stop the left from using it fully because it is good for them to use for their gun control purposes.
Every time there is a shooting, it's good for them who what to stomp the stump for gun control. (my Autocorrect really wants to change "gun" to "fun," and wouldn't that read funny).
If you eliminate the "weapon of choice" for mass shootings, simply because it can fire a lot of bullets in a short time frame, people will simply find another weapon of choice. Four 6-shooters can do a lot of damage in short order. So can a pressure cooker filed with nails and ball bearings. So can a yellow Penske truck filed with diesel fuel and fertilizer.

So can mixing the right 2 or 3 chemicals together . Adding something to the water supply system . If someone wants to murder a bunch of people they can do it without guns.
Guns are not the problem people are.
A lot has been discovered about the Orlando shooter since I made my speculations early in this thread. It seems he had displayed radical Islamic sympathies for years (he cheered the 9/11 attacks in high school). He made at least two trips to Saudi Arabia, supposedly for religious purposes. He worked for G4S - formerly Wackenhut - and had training with firearms. He was investigated twice by the FBI. His Afghani father is supposedly a Taliban sympathizer. On top of all that it's pretty obvious that he was homosexual which is totally unacceptable among most muslims, and punishable by death in some countries.
However, the core issue seems to be the one that was brought up early on: this guy was just plain nuts; he was a violent psychopath who displayed symptoms of mental illness and behavioral disorders in early childhood, causing him to struggle to graduate from high school.

Even with all that baggage, he still managed to get through community college with a two-year degree and get hired by a security firm that has a lot of contracts at critical US Govt locations. Maybe the HR dept at G4S needs to evaluate their screening processes, especially the psychological evaluations they use. Wonder how many other wackos have infiltrated their ranks of armed guards that protect our govt facilities? Lastly, the FBI might want to review their interview and investigative processes. They had two chances with this guy and cut off the investigations, which must have been shallow to say the least. That really inspires confidence in the govt that's supposed to protect and defend us against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

He tried to be a cop, but they kicked him out of the Academy because he was too crazy. That's pretty bad.

Mateen was suspended 2 days later for his cheering and later showing no remorse (as crazy people are wont to do).
The profile coming together about Mateen really has one stark missing element: Any actual proof at all beyond his own words and the conjecture of others that he had any real connection to Islamic terrorists out to radical Islam. Instead, the profile depicts a nutjob who showed signs of trouble dating back to childhood.

And then of course this administration goes for "political correct again" and tries to redact what he actually said during the call. SMH. It does now seem they are changing their minds because Ryan was threatening to put the whole thing out there anyway. Once again, too much madness about "feelings"
I guess the Britts learned a lesson back in 1775 that armed citizens (colonists) could get a little uppity and cause trouble.
Excellent idea! Schools could cut back class size to 5 or 6 students and have classes in private residences. Movie goers could forgo theaters and watch movies in private residences. All military persons could live off base in private residences. Office workers could avoid large buildings like the World Trade Towers in favor of working from home. Shoppers could skip the mall and shop on-line. Airline travelers could stay home and watch the Travel Channel.
